Cairo Pyramids Hotel

As several times before, whether on road to Cairo or Alexandria or as this time to visit again the great pyramids we chose again this peaceful and quiet but nice hotel for a short stay and did not regret it.
Staff as friendly and helpful as always, Pool as refreshing as it was and even perfect with our small daughter for learning to swim and breakfast othing new but reliable. A small minus for the fact that they still have a smoker fraction not separated from breakfast restaurant. Always again a very good place to be welcome.

We stayed at this hotel as part of a Nile cruise booked through Kuoni, what they dont tell you is that it is on a very busy, noisey & dusty road. As other people pointed out the view of the pyramids is from a small roof top bar a 100mtrs down the road in a separate building. The rooms are ok but nothing special set in gounds that do sheild the noise of the road. Nice pool but still rather chilly to use, not all the hotel facilities in use which the brochures dont mention either. We asked to have a kettle in the room to brew a cup of tea and were given a pointblank NO by staff on reception, have never ever been totally refused with no explanation before in any other hotel around the world. It took our travel rep some negotiations to persude them to put a kettle in the room the following day. Not good customer service.
The hotel is about an hour from downtown Cairo and the museums due to traffic congestion but taxi resonably cheap. The hotel is very close to the Giza Pyramids but would suggest a taxi as a number of busy roads need to be crossed to get there.
Food in the hotel was awful, a la carte was everything fried from the freezer with chips, breakfast was quite a spread but again most items very sweet as Egyptians have a very sweet tooth, not good for diabetics. Most breakfast cereals are considered to be "cardborad" but those served at the Movenpick would come under "heavy gauge cardboard" at least it stayed crisp in milk. Most nights in the bar area there was a local singer who drowned out any chance of conversation.
Would I go back? No, it is not up to so called 5* in my view.

Room Tip: I would suggest rooms in blocks 700 to 900 as being furthest from the outside noisy world

Just come back from a 10 day trip to Cairo and Nile cruise. Moevenpick Hotel nice and quiet - on one level - friendly, nice pool but weather was a bit cold to swim!
Excellent breakfast (included) and ate in the Thai restaurant which was excellent and good value - couldn't do enough for us.
Only downside - views of pyramids only from coffee terrace which was accessible from outside the hotel, down the road and up 2 flights of stairs!
Recommended.

With the Great Pyramids of Giza as the backdrop, the Movenpick Pyramid Resort is a great place to stay. One just needs to step outside the hotel to view the magnificent structures. We had stayed in the resort for a couple of nights on our tour to Egypt and found the resort comfortable. The room was rather compact but not crowded. However, the room decor was rather dull - perhaps something that the management can look into. The staff was very helpful and prompt. The food was excellent. The breakfast buffet spread was awesome- especially the omelet bar. Excellent coffee as well. All in all our stay was quite comfortable.
