I've dreamt all my life of seeing the pyramids and they were a joy to behold in person. Huge and awe inspiring. Venture down into the mother's side tomb to get a sense of eternity under all that stone! Careful with locals looking to "help" you take photos as money is expected in exchange.

The one place in Egypt everyone in the world must be aware of and it doesn't disappoint. And there are so many pyramids, not just the few 'famous' ones. Just the scale and grandeur left us speechless. Interesting to hear some of the theories on how the pyramids were constructed - still think aliens were involved somewhere along the line! Not as crowded as we expected, nor as close to Cairo as we were led to believe. A spectacular spot, with amazing views. The hawkers were the most irritating part of the visit - won't take 'No' for an answer. The enigmatic sphinx is an added bonus. Fascinating!

They are exaggerating the distance between the pyramids etc. i honestly thought the guides and the camel/carriage hires just want to milk money from you. My guide was lazy (doesn’t want to walk) and did not give much information about the site, even promised a camel ride but gave me a carriage ride instead. I could have walked around myself without a guide nor a car.

I could have based my rating on the terrible people working in the pyramids, my guide, the scams, etc., but experiencing the pyramids is mich greater than that.

Egypt is lucky to have the pyramids, if only they’re not abusive of it...

There is a lot of traffic, both tourists and hawkers who would be glad to accept your money. It is a lot of fairly easy hiking, but you can enter the inner chambers for a fee. Fairly good security in immediate vicinity, but keep up with local news and be vigilant. Camels are available for a ride. Still worth the time and effort.
