“Nice hotel but not the best”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 April 2012

We spent 3 nights at the grand hyatt in seoul and although everything was first class we were a bit disappointed by the size of the rooms , the level of luxury of the bathroom and the comfort of the beds which were rather stiff .This is clearly no match for the shilla where we were last year.On the other hand the exec floor was nice with good views and good snacks and drinks althoug opening hours were rather limited.I think in this price range you have better options in seoul.

Location: Yes, an oasis in the midst of the hustles and bustles. I at first hesitate to stay on a hill, but the shuttle service and taxi overcome that paranoid. In fact, for those physically able, the walk down the hill even half way has a lot of good eateries to explore. It is not as remoted as I thought.

No. 2 KAL airport bus stop at the hotel doorstep.
Room: we had a club twin on the 18th floor. Room deco is a dated that made one thinks it is not clean. The amenities is standard. Our TV electric connection has problem, it turned automatically as if there is a timer set. Supposed it can swivel, but once you turn a slight angle the TV shutdown. There are ample hangers.

I have to agree to some posters the lighting is very annoying, you haave to turn off all the lights. Only the overhead reading lamp of each bed is individually controlled but that would still shine on the other bed. How much I wish the desk lamp could be individually turned off.
The electric sockets are all clustered next to the desk that is not very convenient.

I don't find the mattress as hard as some posters wrote about. We had very good sleep.

Bathfoom: Amenties is good, but it is surprisingly cramped and shower head has only one spray setting. pretty underpar, time to upgrade the shower head or do away the shower curtain.

Service: the staff overall are very friendly and efficient esp the staff on the club level, Ms. Cho was examplary. BUT the concierge at the ground floor is not very knowledgeable and is inefficient, there is always a long line. Given such a big hotel, there should be at least 2-3 concierge staff on the lobby concierge desk.

Club lounge: both breakfast and cocktail offer two hot choices that impressive. However, there is no afternoon tea snacks that's disappointing. Drinks are not displayed in fridge, you have to wait to be served. Cocktail spread is much better than breakfast spread.

One shuttle bus runs two routes: at the hour :00 to Itaewan :10 to Myeongdong. It would be nice to have bus every 30 mins instead of an hour.

Overall, we enjoy Grand Hyatt very much. We will return.

Room Tip: If budget allows Club level room with view of Nansan Tower, 18th floor has a spiral stair down to 17...

We stayed here one night. The hotel is a great choice as it's located in Namsan Park and near Itaewon.
The view from our room was amazing - even with rain, we had a great view of the Seoul Tower.
Our experience was nearly perfect. Great front desk service. Our room was nice - I didn't have an issue with the size of the room or the bathroom.
We were there as part of a banquet - and by far, it was the best 'banquet food' we've had. The Grand Ballroom was beautiful, zero complaints!
My only, single issue had to do with the bedding. There weren't sheets - just the comforter and the sheet to cover the mattress.
Otherwise, the hotel is an excellent choice.

Room Tip: Request non-smoking room.

My stay in the Hotel was simply great. Room was contemporary and every thing was so well and conveniently organized, that from the first hour of my stay, I felt at home. Hotel staff was intelligently courteous and helpful in all respects. Location of the hotel is the best part... Very near to all main business areas....Highly Recommended.

Stayed two nights in April 2012. The room is tiny, the bathroom is tiny. You can take a bath, flush your toilet and reach the sink. Tiny, tiny.
The mattress may be four inches thick. Felt like sleeping on a Fedex box. Really Awful beds.
Nonsmoking floor that had smokers we had to report.
Heater did not work. We were too tired the first night. The next day the determined that they didn't "turn it on" in our section?
We got a late checkout bc we are platinum members. The front desk staff seem to strive at looking busy whereas in reality they are helping no one. Very odd experience. The hotel is near itaewon but the trains are great in korea so you can get anywhere with ease anyway. Definitely not a luxury hotel, don't believe how travel and leisure rated this place.
