“A good standard city hotel.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 March 2012

This was not our first choice of hotel in Yangon, but we were quite pleased with what we found. The executive rooms were nicely appointed and the small executive lounge was useful as it had a computer with free internet access. In the business unit downstairs there was a charge. Breakfast was good, with plenty of choice, and could be eaten outside by the pool if you wanted.
We ate in the hotel while we were there, and definitely liked the chinese restaurant the best. The staff there were really friendly and helpful and the food was superb.
Some rooms have an excellent view of the Shwedagon pagoda, which looks amazing, especially when lit up at night.
All in all, a very satisfactory stay.

Room Tip: Do ask for a "Pagoda view."

We were here for three days last week. I think the hotel is from the 1960's era and needs a renovation. On the plus side : Friendly and helpful staff, good location, good selection of dining for Yangon. On the minus: Needs a renovation, the bed was like laying on a concrete slab. The pillows were hard, and too many tour groups. Now, most people are traveling( at this period in time) to Yangon by tour groups.( We travel on our own) If you like tour groups, there are lots here. We went down to the buffet one evening at 6;45 and the buffet was open but the food was not out yet, even though it was suppose to be open and serving at 6pm. We know that as we were down the previous two evenings. The manager of the buffet informed us he was waiting for the tour group to come down at 7pm. So, all the tables were booked and we were offered a seat in the Chinese restaurant.. We went upstairs and found a seat in the Japanese restaurant. We had a very nice meal there. Restaurant seats, like hotel rooms, are at a premium here in Yangon. So be aware of that when planning to go out for the evening. Not sure if I would repeat at this hotel. Once again, staff are excellent, hotel is not.

Hotel is not so fancy as it advertises itself. Definitely not 5 star hotel!
I book room through chantrium.com's. There was a confirmations that the price is120 USD per night/room, when I arrived there, it turned out that the price is 144 USD per room, because the price was increased taxes. : ( Very stupid and dishonest!
Hotel room was normal, but little mold smell. Definitely not worth the 144 USD! I've been in better hotels in this money
The pool was a very original solution. Liked it.

The Chatrium Yangon is a large hotel with all the required business or tour group ammenities: business center, pool, three restaurants, lots of conference rooms and ball rooms etc. Do not book this hotel is you want a quiet boutique expereince but do book it if you liek staying in big swank Asian fancy hotels.

The main complaint is that they provide a free single device wifi connection even when one is travelling with more than one device or more than one person per room. It makes no logical sense in this day and age of multiple devices and most couples travel together (yet can only get a single device to connect).

The other suggestion is to book the corner delux rooms as they have balconies that are accessible. The rest of the hotel has balconies but they are kept locked at all times by the management.

Back at the Chatriam after two weeks touring. Hotel very comfortable and staff are charming. Just enjoyed an excellent Italian Buffet with free flowing beer/wine ( made the dinner almost free!!). Highly recommended.
