Spent 10 nights at the Melanesian, Port Vila. Once again enjoyed our stay. Friendly staff at reception who speak English, French, Bislama and the owner is Japanese. Clean and tidy rooms, serviced daily with fresh towels and cleaning. Ni Van friendly staff who are always a delight to engage in conversation. Everything runs on Island time so if you are in a hurry tell them and they will hurry it along. Meals are tasty with a variety to suit most fussy eaters. Within walking distance to town and a lot of other restaurants too or they can organise a bus or taxi for you. Only draw back is the outdoor eating area which in the cooler/breezy winter months may be a little cool. There is room service or other restaurants nearby. They are going to open their indoor restaurant again soon. They bring the local culture and food to you 3 times a week with BBQ nights. After Cyclone Pam some local food varieties are unavailable, but the hotel tried its best to get these foods when they became available in the local market. Once again enjoyed our relaxing holiday with the friendly quietly spoken Ni Van people.

Had a quick trip to the casino which only has a few poker machines and half a dozen gaming tables if that. Staff were similar to gaming staff in Australia - to serious at times. Drink prices were reasonable.
