This is definitely a boutique hotel that has seen better days. However, the rooms are clean, cozy and the beds are comfortable. Nothing fancy in the room, but the free wifi works great. The free breakfast is in the restaurant and you get your choice of either eggs, or fruit or cereal. If you order coffee with milk you are limited to one free cup, but black coffee gets free refills. Could not figure the logic to this? The hotel is one block from the main avenue downtown and only a 5 minute walk to Plaza de Bolivar. If you have no Spanish language skills you will have difficulty with any of the hotel staff as their English language skills are very limited.

Really enjoyed the tapas at this restaurant. Menu is not huge but what we tried was great. The octopus, Croketas and especially the Spanish tortilla were awesome. Had a great drink with awa ardiente that contained cinnamon and some citrus fruit that is awesome. If you like tapas its a great choice

This hotel was poor at best. I stayed in this hotel recently for 10 days for a work trip and their internet was not working the entire time. When asked staff said that they would have the problem fixed within 2-3 days and it turns out that they never had internet to begin with. Hotel was not very hospitable in calling taxis for guests. The breakfast included is very basic and limited. They charge you for any and every extra item that you ask for. Rooms were super cold with freezing tile floor. Returned one day and my door was left open by the cleaning lady. This hotel deserves a one star rating, if that...

Room Tip: Don't stay here.

I only stayed here for one night on my way back to Holland. On my onward journey I had stayed also 1 night in Bogota, but in the Candalaria area. This was a kind of shabby area at night. Hotel Bogota Virey is situated in a far more modern and develloped and save area in Bogota. Good spacious and clean rooms.
