We got to el Cerro by taxi and had to make two lines: 1 to buy the tickets and 1 to actually enter the cable car or the funicular (which is like a small train). Fortunately, one of the street vendors recommended us to divide and conquer: one of us made the line for the tickets and one made the line for the transport.

I recommend going up by cable car and went down by funicular to enojy both experiences. I recommend buying all the ticktets in the first line (when going up).

The view up the hill is amazing. You can see the whole city from up there.

I totally recommend coming to El Cerro when visiting Bogotá.

The cable car ride is wonderful, and is backed up by an exciting "funicular" train like wagon that actually tunnels through the mountain as it approaches the top. Both are a great tourist attraction, and lines can get long going up and coming down. Visitors can buy souveniers and have food as they visit the Church of Monserrate.

When I arrived at the base, I was a little disappointed and thought it was going to be lame - WASN'T!! Awesome view, not crowded, relaxed atmosphere, good cafes and I spent a few hours there. It is very peaceful!
