We've been coming to Abu Dhabi for almost 7 years now and have been waiting anxiously for the opening of this museum.
It's everything I expected it would be: the setting is amazing, the architecture is unique and a technical master piece, the collection is rich and presented in a modern way, mixing cultures and making interesting cross references between Asian, European and Middle East art.
The audio/video guide is state of the art and a new reference in the market.
I'm a fan.

The Louvre Abu Dhabi is a lovely museum experience. Smaller than other art museums, it feels manageable for a half-day visit. The collection is arranged chronologically and with different cultural emphases. Seeing Whistler's mother was a highlight! With lovely outdoor spaces that feature water, shade and sky, thanks to the amazing design, one can easily move from inside to outside to sit and relax a bit. The cafe offers fantastic food at reasonable prices, with the option of indoor or outdoor seating. The entry fee is modest for such a nice museum, and discounts are available for UAE teachers, older children, and teens.

The line for the multimedia player was long and slow-moving when we arrived at 12:30. While some of the explanations were interesting, not many of the exhibits were included in the player, and the information shared was not much more than what was available on the description cards at each piece. I would suggest only getting one player per 2-3 people or skip it altogether.

Its absolutely worth to visit the Louvre. A breathtaking architecture, combined with water, a most outstanding roof and absolute fantastic exhibits. Not too many but the very best you can find anywhere and wonderful presented make this all to a very special place worldwide.

My hubby and I have been three times since it opened, yet we haven't seen all of the displays in the museum. We purchased annual membership; it's definitely worth it. Not only do you get to skip the long lines, you also get a headset with each visit when you're a member.
The displays are amazing! It's such an eclectic display of international artistic talent. It's a must-see if you're in Abu Dhabi. Just plan to spend several hours there exploring. We're looking forward to our next visits.
