“WILL BE A LOVELY PLACE TO STAY WHEN THE PLACE IS FINISHED!!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 November 2011

THIS HOTEL OWNER HAS THROWN SO MUCH MONEY. INTO THE building and designing of Diva but I fear the craftmanship may be a little rough at the edges.... the decor is gorgeous and my room was HUGE with an enormous bed and ample room to have a party...the bathroom was gorgeous and well worth the upgrade. To get the jacuzzi bath. Nice luxurious towels and a robe makes a pleasant change in a hotel that's not 5*
Room service was very edible but tray charge and taxes always bump up the price. I absolutely recommend using the sports bar on footie nights and if you like a good steak then visit Davey Crockets on the ground floor before the awful band start at 9....they weight the steak and fish and cook fresh..ask for the mango salsa...on certain night women get 5 free drinks too.
The pool area was awful due to the constant bang bang bang and it was like a building site with no sign of health and safety.
It will be lovely when the roof top bar is finished. but I'm certain they will hike the prices up too. Not too many chinese ladies frequenting the lobby but I'm sure that will change too. Great for couples and groups but not really suitable for the kids. I would return here because its affordable luxury and hopefully dust will settle on completion.

The Hotel Diva opened in May 2011 and still has a few teething problems. On the positive side, the room was large and the bed was very comfortable - one of the best pillows I have had in an hotel. The minuses were slightly more significant. The hotel management is Indian, as are many of the staff. While willing, the general understanding of English was barely average which resulted in smiling promises to do something without results. There is no air conditioning in the lifts, which seem to have a mind of their own as far as floor logic is concerned. The air conditioning in the bedroom worked but was noisy and produced a wind that blew across the bed and moved the curtains. The curtains did not block out the morning light. Not all services were available on the room TV. The duvet was unusually heavy. The bedroom did not have a guide to use of the TV or for the hotel facilities, such as they were. Also, there were no writing materials. The room phone had call buttons for varius services but none of them worked. The two bars, one allegedly modelled on an English pub and the other American themed, banged out unbelievably noisy music in a smoky atmosphere. Both bars seemed aimed at outside customers rather than hotel guests. There was nowhere in the hotel where you could have a quiet drink in convivial surroundings. The food in Kicks, the "English" bar tended to be greasy pub style rather than fresh restaurant but the masala curry was good. It was possible to eat in the breakfast room but it lacked atmosphere. The tables in that room were too small for the 4 place settings and the chairs were slightly lower than usual, so that you felt as if you were reaching up for your food. Breakfast was OK but not memorable. The gym lacked a rowing machine but had other reasonable equipment. The rooftop pool is accessed via a mini construction site for an outdoor bar area that seems some way off completion. The pool was fine, if a little small, but there was no shade available. Laundry had to be chased both for collection and delivery and was expensive. Free wi-fi was available in the lobby and business room but connection proved difficult. Wi-fi in the bedroom was expensive. The business room had 3 PCs that offered free, fast internet connection. There were no facilities for printing or copying. There are active, noisy building sites in close earshot of the hotel. The nearest restaurants are a good 15 minutes walk away; fine in October to May but not a good walk in the hot season. Check-in was slowish but not too bad. Check-out was slower and about 7 signatures were required on a succession of duplicate invoices. Overall, a good night's sleep was possible and you wouldn't starve to death. However, this is not a good business hotel and there are certainly much better places to stay.

Room Tip: At the back away from the building sites that are adjacent to the hotel.
