I am glad this hotel is now on trip advisor as I want you to know the risk you run when booking a stay at this hotel. This hotel is the most disappointed we have ever been with any hotel we have stayed at and its all because of the way we were treated. Its such a shame as it has the potential to be a great place.

This hotel is expensive and is considered to be deluxe. It is true that the facilities are excellent, villas, spa, restaurants gym, pools etc, we could not fault this part.
BUT and its a big but, the service and management at this hotel was dreadful throughout our stay. This place needs a serious dose of customer service training.
We had to complain on many occasions about problems and mistakes which were then often ignored and not corrected appropreately which just made things worse. When we took these complaints to the management we were treated equally as poorly, arrogance is the term we both used. So what were our complaints?
No pick at airport as promised
Failure to book our hire car
Failure to send buggies to the room on several occasions
Late arrive of buggies making us late for booked spa appointments
Failure to deliver room service
Incorrect room service orders
Failure to clean the room
Broken air conditioning and pool spa which had to be chased on three occasions before it was fixed
No white white in the restaurant even though it was available in the bar. A hotel of this standard runs out of wine in one restaurant and even though you tell the staff they have it in the hotel bar they refuse to get it for you and you have to make another choice. Is this high service or what you expect in a travel lodge? A small thing this one but it rather summed up the hotels problems for us.

The best of all after so many complaints a phone call from a manager three days into our stay asking " how is your stay is everything OK"?

After all our complaints we met with nothing more than a begrudglingly offered bottle of wine to say sorry.

This is a 5* plus hotel with 1* service which is simply unacceptable for this kind of price.

This resort was built as a Banyan Tree Spa but last year Banyan pulled out over a financial dispute. Financial problems seem to persist with the local papers reporting a few weeks ago that the electricity was cut off due to non payment. That being said the Desert Villa that we stayed in was stunning. Their large with your own (heated) plunge pool and jacuzzi. The courtyard has a seperate sitting area and dining room and free wifi. Its really amazing accommodation. The main building houses a restaurant, quite areas, bar, gym (including a women only gym), spa and much more. The facilities are new and frankly top quility. We used the spa a couple of times and found the treatments excellent. Now I should point out that only 3 villas were occupied but given the troubles in Bahrain that is understandable. On the down side the food was bland, the bar (Vertigo) was shut, the villa could have done with dustiing and a number of items on the menu & wine list were not available. Check out was slow (given that they were not busy) but the staff were friendly and around most of the time when you needed them. In summary,an amazing, fantastic facility but you can just feel that there are problems. Everything is still branded Banyan Tree and you just feel that they are in a transition period right now. Give it a go, prices are a third of what they were previously and you can just stay in your villa with no reason to leave it.

The resort is quite far away from everything. This can be a positive or a negative depending on your point of view. Our villa was #304. It was the least expensive villa that you can book. It was pretty amazing. You have your own pool and hot tub. A separate dining area – we chose to have an in villa dining experience where the hotel brings your meal right to your room and serves you - you have your own personal waiter catering on your every need. There are Bose speakers in every room that are linked to a main Bose system. You can be listening to a CD in one room while someone else is listening to the radio in another.

You are driven to and from your room in golf cars.

There is a complete spa in the resort. The do offer couples massages as well.
I was not impressed with the included breakfast buffet. It did not measure up to the other 5-star hotel breakfasts that I have had.

The resort is very expensive. Our one night there cost around $1200. This included dinner in our room, couples massage, and breakfast.
