We went on a Thursday afternoon. The school groups were gone by 2pm, but it was rather hot, bring water if you don't want to pay 1JD for a small bottle. Strongly recommend bringing your own guidebook as many of the placards were missing and it's hard to visualise what used to be there, especially the Byzantine churches. Admission
10JD.

I’ve travelled extensively, I’ve been all around Italy and Greece, and have never felt what I felt in Jerash. Italy and Greece are amazing too, of course, but Jerash is breathtaking! TWO theatres! A forum, and agora, and so well kept, only damaged by and earthquake, I can’t even imagine all the rest of things still to discover. Please, if yo go to Jordan, go to Jerash!

We had a tour with a guide. I highly recommend to take a guide. There are so many things, that you not will discover without somebody who knows the side. We had the great privilege to have one of the Tourist Police Guys and he was awesome. He explains a lot of details and he explains it in a way that you really think that this town is still full of live

Probably second best Roman Ruins in the Middle East behind what was Palmyra in Syria. It is about an hour drive from Amman and the scenery on the route is fantastic. The ruins will take about an hour to see everything. There are some places to get drinks and buy trinkets. The day that we went, there had to be hundred of school kids all over the place. They wanted pictures with foreigners - could be a bit overwhelming for some. Don’t miss out on this. This is probably one of the top 5 things to see in Jordan.

We went there as a family though one thing we observed immediately was there was trash everywhere. People did not care to bring their trash to the trash cans and left them wherever. Similarly there were lot of weed and wild plants growth among the monuments. From a distance everything looked good but as you started going closer, it looked like a pile of rocks put together sometimes in a disorderly fashion.

Also the entrance is not near the visitor center but near Hadrian gate which was little disappointing for us since it added additional walking for us and forced us to go thru the souvenir shops (and the crowd) which seemed totally unnecessary if the access was permitted through the visitor center.

Overall, depending on the weather, nice place to picnic and spend time. Would not hurt to add some cleaning crew for the cost collected to visit the monuments.
