It shows how new can blend in old. 2000 year old civilization ruins with backdrop of new tall buildings and view of city. Prayer hymns across the city makes it better experience. A stop under shade of tree makes you experience all these.

Great ruins to visit in the center of Amman. It can be pretty hot during the day, so plan ahead. Accessible with Jordan pass
I wouldn't recommend walking to this sight as its perched on one of Amman's hilltops. You'll get offered the services of a guide as you enter but part of the beauty of the place is taking in the 360 degree breathtaking views of Amman during weekdays without the constant banter of a guide (unless that's what you're after). I recommend buying the Jordan pass before you come which includes entry to most of the major sights
The Citadel in Amman has become an archaeological park, with quite a few interesting remains, such as the Temple of Hercules, with its four columns and a gigantic statue, an Ayyubid Tower and a Byzantine Church.
Amazing view over the city of Amman, showing a spectacular Roman Theatre and the Hasmemites Place, currently under restoration works, as well as the white and black mosque named Abu Darwish.
Worth the visit, definitely before closure in the afternoon, due to very hot climate conditions.
Visited here late morning and it was already very hot so take plenty of water. The Roman ruins are excellent. The museum is interesting and as an added bonus it is cool. Definitely worth a visit.
We visited in morning but it was still quite hot. Bring an umbrella for some shade. The museum is indoors and quite comfortable as well as offering fabulous ancient artifacts, some that go back more than 7,000 years, most all of which have been recovered from sites in Jordan. Very good museum.
