“Le Meridien, Amman, Jordan”
Reviewed 2 May 2012

My husband and I have lived in Amman for over a year now, and we've been to the restaurants in Le Meridien many times, always a great experience, so we decided to give the hotel a try. Le Meridien is located in a very nice section of Amman, close to downtown and many tourist sites. I arrived before the official check-in time, and the reception staff made sure our room was cleaned and ready to move into asap, which I really appreciated. I waited in the Club Lounge a short time until the room was ready. We stayed in a suite overlooking the pool. The suite was huge with two bathrooms (one with an multi-jet shower and a separate over-sized tub), two TVs, couch and chairs, dining table, Internet connection, safe, and a coffee/tea maker. The bed was large and quite comfortable. I was very impressed that Le Meridien has some non-smoking floors, and the entire Club Lounge is non-smoking! That's a huge deal in my book, especially in Amman where it seems everyone but me smokes... constantly. There's also a non-smoking seating area in their 282 Steakhouse (our favorite restaurant in Amman). We were very pleased with the accommodations, restaurants, Club Lounge, pool, staff, everything. I'd encourage you to book a Club room. The prices are reasonable compared to most of the top hotels in the city. Great hotel! We hope to go back before we move back to the states.

Room Tip: Booking a room on the Club Floor gives you all-day access to the Club Lounge (smoke free) which offe...

we booked a standard double room for 4 nights on our aeroplan points. Since we got the hotel for "free" it's hard to complain but here are some thoughts:

positives:
- the overall service was really good. the front desk was pleasant. check-in was a breeze. the front desk and as well as the cleaning staff would checkup on us to see if we needed anything.
- security -- everyone has to go in and out of the front entrance and you and your bags are scanned on the way in.
- the room was very clean, spacious, and modern. our king size bed was very comfortable.
- the workout room is top notch. it's big with many machines and free weights.

negatives:
- our room was a non-smoking room but a couple of the days when we returned to our room we could smell cigarette smoke. on one occasion, one of our bath towels smelled of smoke. Everyone smokes in Amman but this seems a bit unacceptable for a supposed 5 star hotel.
- wifi/internet is really expensive - 15 JD a day. but this is the "norm" for the bigger hotels.
- the daily cleaning was done well except some items were not replenished or replaced (e.g. soap, shower floor mat, face towels). however, we didn't have any problems asking for them when needed.

We stayed fopr a total of five nights four at start of holiday and one night on return from Jordan.
The staff were excellent, friendly and provided fiorst class service. The room was large as was bathroom, had a safe, tea coffee etc. Beds were super-king size and very comfortable, just what you need after a day's sightseeing.
We booked for half board and ate in Cosmo restuarant morning and night. Buffet style meals with different dishes each day. Excellent quality, plentiful and fresh.
Security was good at the hotel, scanner for luggage as well as airport type scanner for guests with friendly security staff at front door. Five minute walk takes you to local shops with good variety of jewellers, clothing etc,
Only complaint would be price of alcohol. we paid nearly 60 JD for a bottle of prosecco(including tax and service) with Jordanian wine , good quality, coming in at 30 JD inclusive.
Would definatley recommend this hotel if you are staying in Amman as part of a tour.

Room Tip: We were on both floor 2 and floor 5, located beside the lifts and both were equally good, no noise

We stayed at this hotel for our first two nights of our holiday in March and the last night. The staff on reception were welcoming and friendly, we were checked in quickly after arriving late in the evening and were in our room within ten minutes. We had requested a non-smoking room but were given a smoking room, we were tired and just wanted to change and go for something to eat so didn't ask to change rooms as there was very little smell anyway. The food and service on these fist two nights was very good. On checking out I mentioned that we were coming back for the last night of our holiday and could we have a non-smoking room next time, the receptionist apologised for the giving us a smoking room and said they would ensure a non-smoking room. On the last night night at check in they not only gave us a non-smoking room but upgraded us to a suite with access to the club lounge, the room was really nice with a lounge area and huge bed. Overall we had a very nice stay here with clean rooms (no dust bunnies behind bathroom doors), good service and the food in the hotel restaurants was good and reasonably priced for a city centre hotel. The staff were always helpful and pleasant and all public areas of the hotel we used were clean as well. Our only (minor) complaint was that the rooms were very hot and the air conditioning wasn't on as it was still in winter mode. easily solved by opening windows. We would stay here again if we visited Amman in the future

Room Tip: Check you have been given a non-smoking room at reception when checking in

We arrived as a family of six with two pre-booked attached rooms. We were told that the hotel was fully booked and no connecting rooms were available, but to give them a few minutes and they would see what they could do. Recognizing that we had small children, they came back a few minutes later with an upgrade to a two bedroom suite. Now that is service!
