Manta Ray was recommended by several people who had been to Tel Aviv so I made a reservation. We were seated by the window, looking out at the waves, very dramatic. We ordered the top 2 items on the menu, Balkan bread with olive oil and a selection of 12 mezes. We weren’t sure we’d want main courses but the server said we could wait and decide later. We took a good selection and they were delicious. We had been advised to choose the eggplant dip, and it was so good. A really fun evening with delicious food, a beautiful setting and great service.

I had lunch and dinner at Manta Rey this week, both wonderful meals, they offer mezze and bring you a tray from which you choose, veggie dishes ISK 21 and non-veggie ISK 25, har a yellow-tail ceviche, amazing! meat and cabbage Asian style also wonderful! Also had salmon with vegetables and peanuts, surprisingly good. Tzaziki was ordinary. one day mezze was followed by grilled calamari with feta, not a combi I would have thought of but well functioning! I also had Calamari Asian style a main course this dish was less successful...Manta Rey is seen as one of the more pricy restaurants in Tel Aviv and is not cheap, I spent ISK 163 (plus tip) for lunch and 240 (plus tip but incl Aperol spritz and 1 glass of Flam-wine for dinner). But it is definitely a good restaurant!

This is a marvelous restaurant by the sea. It’s a very civilized and welcoming place, with wonderful food and drink and helpful, friendly service. What could be bad when the ocean is so close and the food so good?
