“very noisy due to night club next door”
Reviewed 15 February 2012

We stayed at the Jerusalem Inn for one night in April, 2011 and were very disappointed in our stay.

Although the room was very tiny, and the breakfast in the morning was less than satisfactory, I would not
have given this rating if not for the following: We had specifically arranged to be there so that we would be close to where we were to attend a Passover Seder. The problems began when we returned from the Seder. There was a night club next door blasting music and conversation til the wee hours of the morning. The air conditioner was broken, so we needed to open the sliding glass door to get some air on the warm night. But with the door open, we couldn't sleep because it was too loud. We asked the hotel manager to move us to another room, but he said they were completely booked. So we decided to keep the door closed (could still hear the music and conversation thought) and slept fitfully in the heat.

Knowing that the night club was so loud, I believe management should made a note that our room had a broken air conditioner that morning, and offered to arrange for us to stay at another hotel when we arrived. I am hoping that their customer service practice has improved since we were there.

Stayed at this hotel before and was great to stay again. Fantastic location and value for money. Free WiFi. As we had stayed at the hotel before (with our children), we were upgraded to a big spacious room which was fantastic. Good breakfasts, helpful and polite staff - all perfect for a great stay in Israel. Thanks!

Room Tip: We were on the ground floor so didn't have to worry about stairs!

I first learned about the Jerusalem inn thru their sister property. The reviews were mixed and at least according to the hotel website pictures it seemed like a great boutique hotel in the heart of Jerusalem. When we first walked in the lobby, which looks like a store front looked nice inviting and modern. When we checked in we were given the old clunky keys with a heavy key chain, like the old hotels used to have. We then inquired for the elevator. "The stairs are to the left" we were told - wow, no elevator. Try schlepping a couple of heavy suitcases up 2 flights of stairs. They were nice enough to help us with our luggage, but no elevator at this day and age - STRIKE ONE. We then walked into the room. While we did expect a small room, we didn't expect it to be dirty as well. The room and bathroom were dirty - we found someone's hairs (notice the plural) all around the bath. The bed cover was stained and it seemed they probably never vacuumed the room ever. That was STRIKE TWO. After settling in we tried to operate the tv set. Turned out to be a futile attempt. It was broken. STRIKE THREE.
One redeeming feature is the somewhat nice staff, although it varied by person.
I would go a miss if I didn't mention the breakfast. The breakfast is served in a next door. It was ok, barely. Compared to what you get in other establishments, it is poor.
All in all, I expected they I would be getting less then a five star hotel, but would pay less, making this a good value. I'm sorry to say this establishment is probably the worst hotel I've stayed at and at $120 dollars a night it's grossly overpriced and a poor value. I wouldn't stay there again.

Great little hotel! Very small - no elevators but we stayed only 2 flights up. Room was clean. Bathroom was small but clean. Price reasonable. Literally a block from Jaffa Street/Ben Yehuda Street. Close to tons of shopping and dining. A 20is minute walk to the Old City - SO convenient.
We had a room with 3 twin beds - was perfect.
Hotel staff was very helpful. Booked us an Old City tour on Shabbat when everything else was closed. Our flights out weren't until 9PM that night - the room was not rented out after us so they let us stay until 6PM, which was great as we were tired after our tour and got to nap, then pack leisurely.

Good things - location, WiFi, range of tv channels, some staff

Things to sort -
Bedroom carpet not appropriate with shower and sink in room, the carpet next to shower was permanently damp
Balcony covered in pigeon mess - put spikes on the ledges above
Breakfast bit dreary
