“Jerusalem at Easter & Passover”
Reviewed 24 April 2012

I enjoyed my stay in Leonardo Plaza in Jerusalem. When we arrive, I was happy to see how nice the hotel is. I expected something less because I stayed in another Leonardo somewhere in Germany and this Jerusalem hotel is much much nicer. The elevator is fast. Hotel is accessible to important sights. Breakfast was great, dinner was great at the hotel. It was hot during the afternoon and twice when we got back to the hotel, there was a free flowing welcome drink that taste good and very refreshing. During the Passover day itself, we were given cakes as part of the celebration. The waiters in the restaurant were friendly despite being understaff during the holidays.

When this hotel was a Sheraton, they cared about their guests. As a Leonardo (Fattal) hotel, they are caring more for those who come once rather than their repeat guests. Jerusalem being a holy city gets visitors who expect a certain level of religious observance, and thiis was lacking. On the Sabbath, tour buses were unloading and the atmosphere in the dining room was secular. Food quality on Friday nite was poor and breakfasts were meager. The hotel charges for a refrigerator, for wi-fi and the food is expensive. Too bad a good hotel doesn't remember who its friends are.

I have been passing the past few years pessach in differentt hotels and I must say that the experience i had this year at the leonardo plaza was by far the best one,
It is verry excitting to see that it is possible to have an pessach kosher l'mehadrin cousine with such a nice variety and such delicious food.
together with the so friendly service offered by all of the great stuff, made it possible for us to take the most out of our pessach.
can't wait for the nezt visit.

This was my second stay in 6 months, and I was less enthused this time. Here is the good: great location, high-rise hotel with great sun and light and views in our high-floor room. Decor and furniture is OK, not great, but not awful.
Bad: Lumpy foam pillow - down or at least feathers have become standard everywhere, so small, foamy pillows are unacceptable, and so easy to correct. Service was indifferent to poor - even by Israeli standards. Common areas, hallways in particular, are really really looking old and worn. The walls and carpets on our floor was scuffed, dirty and very worn out. Breakfast - always a highlight in Israeli hotels, as they are buffets and bountiful, was just OK.
I would think twice about returning next time.

Room Tip: ask for a high floor so that at least you have unobstructed, light and open views.
