I was a bit surprised afer reading other reviews, half of them are very positive, some of them are rather bad, so which is the true?
Well, after staying in the hotel for a couple of days, I would say this is quite a ok hotel, but nothing really superb. The hotel building itself is a bit old, and one notices that it could be improved a bit. There is nothing really bad, but you are not under the impression of being at an outstanding hotel, and I would have expected a bit more for the price of the room. Breakfast is rather good, a lot of variety but I was missing a bit of attention to detail (from personnel and service) to make it a bit better.
There is free wifi in the hotel, certainly a good plus, a good spa and swimming pool. I tried the Indian restaurant in the hotel and the food was very good, but again the service could have been a bit more friendly.
The location is probably not optimal if you are going for tourism, the hotel is located nearby the governmental district (close to the Knesset and several Ministries), and there is no much you can do around, except probably visiting the Israel musem.
However, there is a bus from the hotel going to the old town every 2 hours, but you have to ask at the reception to be sure someone will be waiting for you.The trip is for free and takes 15-20 minutes depending on the traffic.
I paid 265 shekels (about 70 USD) for a ride from Ben Gurion airport to the hotel in Jerusalem (about 40 minutes). For going back to the airport, I was offered either a taxi at 350 shekels (??) or a shared bus for 60 shekels, which at the end turned out fairly convenient.
One tip: if you are approaching Jerusalem from the West road from Tel-Aviv, you will see the white Calatrava's bridge in the city, fairly spectacular view by the way. The hotel is very close to it!
