My sister and I just spent 4 nights there in May 2012. The place is located on a very quiet street, away from the crazy, busy-ness of Istanbul, yet within easy walking distance of the Must-See sights (Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, etc). There are also Plenty of restaurants just around the corner. The place itself was Very clean, and the hosts are extremely hospitable and helpful. And the breakfast buffet: I think it was the best one we had in our 2 weeks of travel within Turkey! The rooftop deck is a great place to take in the view while relaxing after an intense day of tourism. Although our room was just a bit on the small size (2 twin beds), we peeked into some of the other rooms, and they looked very nice for singles or couples. I would definitely recommend this place as a delightful place to stay. (We also used the travel company associated with the Marmara GH to continue on to Cappadocia, which worked out very well.)

We recently stayed at Marmara Guesthouse for 3 nights, and our only regret was not staying longer. Our flight in from Milan was delayed and as a result we did not arrive until well after midnight. The friendly host, Elif, was there happily waiting for us to show us to our room.

Our room was basic and fairly small, but very clean. We had a room on the ground floor (actually a little below ground), which kept the room cool most of the time. The air-conditioning worked well when required.

But the most positive aspect of staying at this townhouse was undoubtedly Elif. Always smiling and more than happy to assist with any travel enquiries. She arranged a wonderful local Turkish bath for us, and organised our trip to Gallipoli with some minor modifications so that we could continue on to Canakkale - in addition to any other enquiries we had.

The rooftop terrace is a wonderful place to enjoy a cold beer, and within walking distance of all major sights in Istanbul,  I cannot recommend the budget conscious traveller this place more highly.

Marmara Guesthouse has a great location on a quiet street, excellent hosts, and a tasty, filling breakfast. The room was small (cosy) but clean and quiet. It's very convenient to sights (Blue Mosque, etc) and tram (to Grand Bazaar, .ferries, etc.). We stayed here for 3 nights at the end of our 6-week travels in Turkey, and really felt welcomed and at home. There's no lift, so our room near the top was "good exercise". We'd happily stay here again.

i stayed here for a week from 25apr til 2may 2012. i really enjoyed my stay. everything was very clean. the free daily buffet breakfast was great, with a wide range of fruits and jams. the open rooftop terrace has an amazing view. the owners of the guesthouse, elif and her parents have been very welcoming and nice during our stay. elif was very helpful when we asked her for directions to major tourist attractions and also recommended us on which places to go. she also helped us booked our one day tour to izmir for the ephesus tour, and also the airplane tickets. i would also like to thank her for inviting us to her brother's wedding. i've never been to a turkish wedding and it was a really nice experience. i will definitely stay at marmara guesthouse again. the price was affordable and its location is perfect, within walking distance to the major tourist hotspots. and there are also cafes and restaurants nearby as well. overall, it was a really great stay at marmara guesthouse, istanbul is indeed amazing, their people are very friendly. once again, i would like to thank elif and her family for the enjoyable stay.
