If we came back we would book here again in a heart beat. The room appeared quite small partly due to the decorative blanket draping from the already low ceiling. Another thing to note, the hot water was excellent & plentiful but a few times it would switch to cold for a minute. About 10 min walk to the Sultanahement tram station with a lovely view of the Bosphorus. Below I’ve listed a few pros and cons:

Cons:
1.Our twin room was on the top floor right next to the kitchen/common room (room 402) so we could hear them preparing breakfast at 7:30 every morning and other guests conversing at night.
2.There was a bit of construction going on during the day so when my friend needed to take a rest it was nearly impossible with the drilling going on next door.
3.Breakfast hours were 8-10. Personally I would have preferred something like 7-10

Pros:
1.Price. This was a big one. At 40 Euros per night it was hard to pass up.
2.Breakfast gave us a great start to our day. 3TL for fresh squeezed OJ
3.Quiet street but dozens of touristy restaurant options just around the corner.
4.Owner’s daughter was very helpful when needing to book tours, shows, etc. She was always available at breakfast & sometimes during the evenings.
5.They offered beverages at a good price (honor system)
6.WiFi worked great – no connection or speed problems. A major plus.
7. CLEAN! The room & bathroom was spotless.

This is family run & the only common area was the kitchen so you are privy to some of the business conversations, which can be awkward if it is an argument, but otherwise everything was great.

Room Tip: Choose a room other than 402 (it is the only one on the top floor)

The location can't be better for walking to the most popular sites. It is also close to the tram which connects to the bus, etc.
The manager, Elif, is very kind and extremely helpful with tour information, even booking busses in some cases.
The breakfast is fresh, plentiful, and typical. Hot water is always available for tea. There is a rooftop terrace with a great view, unfortunately it was too cold during my stay to use it.
Some rooms are rather small, but that may be expected in a large city where you are in the middle of all the action.

Room Tip: If you sleep late perhaps avoid the kitchen /breakfast area.

We had a very comfortable stay. A pleasant room with our own really nice modern bathroom, that were cleaned daily. Never feeling cramped. The breakfast was very good and delicious, and we enjoyed the various sorts of food. The Owners were really obliging and accommodating. Thanks for everything, Marmara Guesthouse! We'd love to come again!

We traveled around for a month and of all the places we stayed this one was hands down the best! Everyone is extremely friendly and welcoming. The community area was always full of friendly people to talk with...a great meeting place, with free coffee and tea. The breakfast was amazing...especially the fig jam (which was homemade). I would highly highly recommend this place. Thanks Marmara Guest House...when we come back to Turkey we will definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: We stayed in a double on the third floor and it was everything you could ask for.

Our daughter chose this hotel based on reviews, I was just a little worried that they might be basking on their laurels, but that wasn't the case at all. The staff tried very hard to be friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were wonderful, fresh fruit, yoghurt, cheeses olives and all sorts of good things. The restaurant is on the top floor and you can see the ships go by on the Bosporus from your table. They have a wonderful honesty system for taking beers etc from the fridge whenever you want one and keeping a tab. The rooms were clean and comfortable with pretty fabric wall hangings. We were there in mid winter, the heating was generous and unlimited hot water. Free wifi.
