“I’m a Daphne fan”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 June 2012

I still remain one big fan of a small, clean, with personality, well located and traveller-friendly hotel. This one is almost irreproachable, among other qualities. The 20 rooms ( 201 to 505 ) are located on 4 levels marked with 2,3,4 and 5 (same to the elevator). Each level has 5 rooms, the first digit of the room means the level and the last one the position. At level 1 is the entrance, the dining room and the reception. At level 0 is the kitchen. At the level 6 ( no elevator for it ) is the terrace – restaurant. Rooms x01, x02 have main street view. Rooms x03 and x04 have Sea View. Rooms x04 are bigger. Rooms x05 are transit ones, small and with neighbours view. Rooms 50x are a little smaller than the others but with a better view, some have a tiny balcony.
Food is ok, fresh, clean, colourful and for all taste, you can find all the things you need. The staff is very helpful, with good education and very flexible. And polyglot. Maids are a little obsessed with cleanliness and correctness ... but I think they should not be so scared when someone gives them a tip ;-) ... The clients are from all over the world, not noisy or rude people. It sounds a little boring but I have nothing to complain. It is a quiet place for quiet people, in the middle of a remarkable historical area.
During vacation is good to be relaxed ... so ... about eating outside ...
NEVER eat at any restaurant under the Galata Bridge. They are, all, disgusting. Prices are HUGE, the fish and others things are prepared in a very primitive way from something not so fresh ( they have even smelly shells ). They don’t have any respect for the food or for the client. In addition, the entire area stinks!
ASK first in any restaurant if prices exposed include all taxes. At least one quarter of restaurants try to rob you. Someone told me that by law, every price must contain all taxes. Verify please, I forgot to ask some official about it.
STARS and celebrity in TA means, in my opinion : we have a lot to drink and a fancy style but unfortunately we don’t have such a good chef. No exception, all restaurants with good rank have problems with cooking quality and overpricing. Surprisingly, isn’t it?

The location of this hotel is absolutely perfect. Nestled in the heart of Sultanhmet, its walking distance to Blue Mosque, Agia Sofia, Topkapi palace, the Grand Bizzare and more.

Check in was a breeze..

Our room overlooked the Marmara Sea, wonderful view and nice aspect. The rooms are clean, on the small side, our bathroom had a musty smell, no ventilation. There are toiletries but bring your own if possible.

There is a mosque right opposite the hotel so the Call to Pray would wake me every morning and its loud. There are lots of seagulls in the area and at times they can be noisy. So my point is its not a quiet area and the traffic is constant.

The breakfast was not appealing to me, did not enjoy the coffee, and the food not to my liking.

The staff were OK. Some were friendly and some were not . Our TV did not work, minor issue..

The rooftop of the hotel has a majestic view and sunset. Had a soup which was tasty. Turkish coffee anywhere is most wonderful and so are the turkish delights.

If you have the time indulge in a Turkish Hamam. Only 5 minute walk from the hotel visited the Cemberlitas Hamami and what an experience that was. Talk about going back in time. The hamam and massage only 55 euros, worth every cent.

Room Tip: Its a small hotel so I assume all rooms are identical, its a corner hotel so the noise is felt anywh...

Hotel Daphne was recommended by my sister-in-law who stayed there. The reservation process was easy online. We reserved a room with twin bed. When we got there, we were informed that the room was trashed by a previous guest so we were placed in another room in an adjacent building. The staff was very cooperative and answered all of our questions. Next day, we were moved into the main building. The staff carried all our luggage and we found it in our room when we returned from touring. The hotel is in a quaint part of Istanbul, very conveniently located, near a mall and near the Blue Mosque, the Aja Sophia and the Topkapi Palace, all within walking distance. There were several nice restaurants in the neighborhood. Our room had a nice view of the Sea of Marmara. They had a very nice breakfast buffet which is included in the price. The terrace restaurant on the roof has a marvelous view of the sea. The manager was extremely helpful and eager to please. When we were ready to leave, the manager remembered that we arrived by cab and told us that we were eligible for a complimentary one-way trip to the airport which he easily arranged for. I can't think of one thing that didn't seem right.

Room Tip: If you could get a water view from an upper floor, it would be worth it.

Early in the morning you will certainly feel some kind of religious atmosphere due to the prayer of the students of the seminary nearby.
And from the dining room, you can see the sea as well as the old column.
Up on the roof terrace restaurant, you can overlook the see flooded with ships.
Sunset is just fantastic!
You may be surrounded by sea-gulls.
