Lamartine is very close to the Havas bus stop on Taksim. I looks recently renovated and displays a modern minimalist design with a good colour scheme. My room was big enough, the bathroom was comfortable and all appliances worked as expected. The staff was fluent in English and professional.
The breakfast was really rich - continental, Turkish and English food and a really good selection of local cheeses, 6 kinds of them.

Standing in a narrow street it has no views. Small restaurants have tables right on the street in front of it and there was live music too. My room was on the 7th floor on the other side so I could see a lot of red rooftops and did suffer aany noise. Afraid it can be rather dark closer to the street.
To put it short - it was a good bed, bath and breakfast in and superb location. All we needed

We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights. The first night the ac didn't work and the reception said it was because someone switched off during the night. Second night same problem and reception said they would clean the filter, third night same and reception said now it was the better it could get! Unbelievable! We were in the top floor and it was clear that the ac wasnt enough in that floor! One night we even slept with the windows open hearing all the noise from outside! I don't recommend at all! There are many other hotels in this area with the same price and it cannot be worse than this!

When we arrived at lamartine hotel we were pleased.Excellent facilities, very clean rooms. The most important is that it is located in the heart of Istanbul,Taxim square and someone can easily have access to the restaurants, caffes, bars and clubs there. The stuff is very friendly and give you the information needed to get allong with this non-spoken-english city.Great hotel.Pleasant stay.Wonderful city.I definately recomend it.

Lamartine is an average 4 star hotel and expensive. I stayed there May-08 for a week and found the experience not-satisfactory. I don’t expect extreme luxury with a 4 star hotel, but at least some basic requirement of cordial staff. Staff there seems to be so displeased with their work and they do not show any interest on their customers. For example, there was a problem with the blinking light in my closet which I identified and reported on the first day itself. Till the last day I left it was not rectified. Another instance where there was no bottle opener in the mini bar and when I requested for it, the staff asked me to open the beer bottled with my teeth. What do u expect from such a place like this??

The only advantage is the hotel is in the heart of the city and it’s a safe place to stay. Like no hanky panky stuff.
