The fish restaurants with their unique fishy smell are packed at night. Interspersed with spice and nut shops selling locum and apple tea (Elma). Lamps, souvenirs, ceramics and jewellery. A mosh mash of Retail Therapy in a fish market!!
Fried mussels with garlic sauce is a must. Beware of restaurant touts who promise the best fresh fish coming from The Black Sea. It is and most places charge the competitive same price of TL 20 for sea bass or Sea bream. But beware! They jack up the hidden prices like 5TL for bread and a few delicious green olives in lovely olive oil which you think is free. And the nerve if trying to add TL5 tax when it should be in the menu price. Plus TL5 for a tiny bottle if TL1 mineral water. Beware and ask what is included.
Fish touts all speak good English and German. I found one tout who had left four children behind in the UK with four different women!!!
Perhaps fish makes men viral.
A must for a fun evening. The market does on and on downhill. Don't choose an evening with a football match being televised!
