“Nice surprise”
Reviewed 30 May 2011

Location:Perfectly close to Taksim square and the pedestrian area of Istiklal cadddasi. The downside is that the hotel is hard to find when you arrive with a cab from the airport.Try to contact the hotel so they can send you a car to pick you up (not free of charge of course).

Building:Very new and very nice. All the rooms are suites of two rooms and its very well equipped for the needs of the travelers.Rooms are very very clean. The negative thing is that the heating was on although temperature was above 20 degrees outside. So the rooms gets very hot if you don't turn on the air condition. The rooms have Wi Fi and the speed was very good.

Staff: Extremely helpful and always smiling specially Ismael,Hande, the breakfast guy and the cleaning lady. They were always ready to answer your questions and to come with suggestions. They are very service minded and provide you with nice Anatolian hospitality.

Food:Breakfast is a dish with different types of cheese, butter.vegetables, olives, egg, jem, honey and salamy. With tea or coffee.Abundant I must admit and the breakfast guy even offered to make omletette if you get tired of the boiled egg.

So all in all a very nice experience and would definitely go there again.

The location isn't perfect but this is a really nice small hotel. It is on a very quiet street and perhaps I wouldn't have felt comfortable walking there on my own after dark but the hotel itself was great.

Room
Had a huge room on the top floor with a seating area and enclosed balcony. It also had a spectacular view over the city. The only downside was becuase of all the glass it was very hot and also got light in the room as soon as the sun came up

Serivce
Friendly and polite throughout

Breakfast
Ok so nowhere is perfect and the breakfast was fairly dire. Only had it two days and then the rest of the time went out to get someting. Plate of meat cheese and olives which sounds fine but none of it was particulalry tasty.

Perhaps the hotel was a tiny buit expensive for what you get but overall I would definitely stay there again.

I just returned from my trip to Istanbul and stayed at this hotel for three nights.

First off location: It is located on a side street but I would hardly call it unsafe. It was actually quite pleasant to wake up to the sounds of locals opening their shops rather than traffic on a main road. I walked back to the hotel at night several times and not once did I feel it to be unsafe. It is not located directly on the square, but it takes less than two minutes to walk there and that includes time to cross the street. It can be difficult for taxis to find but if you have the address written down it will not be a problem. Worst case scenario, take a taxi to the square and walk the two minutes to the hotel.

Cleanliness: Very clean and was cleaned nicely everyday.

Rooms: I had a standard room ( I think!) and it was enormous! Couch and a chair in the main room with a little table and chairs. Nice large television. Bedroom was good size with lots of storage. Mattress was a little hard but thats just my opinion. Bathroom clean and shower was wonderful.

Service: Excellent! I had a large backpack and they insisted on carrying to the room for me! The front desk was very helpful and the breakfast was simple but delicious.

Overall a great place to stay if you are looking for an affordable hotel near Taksim. I would reccomend it to anyone and everyone.

We booked our staying in Moss Suites in Istanbul for 1 night. The price was 90 euro, which was really overpriced for the hotel where we found ourselves in.
The most serious problem is the location of the hotel. Yes, it is 5 minutes walking from Taksim Square, but it is in a dark and dirty road with strange people walking around. At night we were afraid to return. It is very hard to find the place by taxi because the road of the hotel is small and at night we felt it is dangerous.
The hotel itself it is located near Taksim Square but not on Taksim Square. And a street can make the difference. It is on the borders with a poor and low developped area where no modern people are around. The building seems to be old, even though renovated but many of the new items seemed to us very fake. For example the walls etc. A very important issue is that we didn't see fire exit. The houses around are old, and in winter they get heated with coal and there is serious risk of fire. The hotel had only one stair and it was the normal stair. Concerning the staff, the girl at the reception was polite and she spoke good English. But the rest of the people seemed to us indifferent. We were given a room at the last floor, but the elevator couldn't go until that floor and we had to carry 4 suitcases by ourselves. The room was small and the bed uncomfortable. However there were 2 televisions, the bathroom worked properly with hot water and the room was clean. I don't think i would stay there for more than 1 night. There are good intentions about the hotel, but there is something seriously missing.
