“Charming boutique hotel that hits all the marks”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 September 2012

This is a delightful, charming boutique hotel in a fabulous location. However, what truly sets it apart from many such small hotels is the level of personal service given by its staff. When we first arrived, we were brought upstairs by a gentleman (whose name escapes me), to the lovely rooftop sitting area overlooking the Sea of Marmara. We were offered our choice of drinks (including alcohol), while he spent about 20 minutes with us, going over a map of Istanbul, indicating the days each site was closed, and basically formulating a sightseeing plan for the 5 days we were visiting. He talked about good shopping areas and even provided his cell phone number in case we needed any assitance while we were out. This personal attention was lovely. Our room (one level up) was spacious and comfortable. While we were close to the street level, I never found it overly noisy and I did not hear the early morning (4:45 a.m.) calls to prayer. My only gripe was the there was not enough counter space in the bathroom for two people's cosmetic/shaving bags. Breakfast was extensive and good, with slight varitions every day. We also enjoyed the afternoon tea spread provided by the hotel and often brought our tea and nibbles up to the rooftop. There are many decent restaurants within walking distance and the walk to the Hippodrome/Blue Mosque/Hagia Sofia was easy (although uphill). We enjoyed ever minute in the Hotel Amira and hearily recommend it.

We stayed at this hotel in September 2012. It is located in a good though not excellent location in Sultanahmet district of Istanbul. On arrival we received a very warm welcome and were told that we had been upgraded to a deluxe double room. We were taken to the hotel's roof terrace and were offered cool drinks and were given plenty of useful general and sight seeing information by charming Tina. The terrace had views to the sea of Marmara.
Our double deluxe room was quite large and clean with air conditioning, TV, mini bar, telephone, radio, safe, reading/dressing table and sofa. It faced the street but was totally sound proof. Bathrobes and room slippers were provided. Complimentary coffee and tea making facility together with a daily bottle of water were provided in the room. Linen were clean.
Bathroom was a bit cramped and could do with more lighting for shaving and make up. There was a hair dryer and telephone extension with sufficient shampoo and shower gel. Bath towels were clean but some seemed slightly worn.
Free WiFi was available throughout the hotel plus an iMac in the restaurant area. Printing was available via reception.
Breakfast buffet was varied and of good quality and was served in a peaceful surrounding. There was also a daily complimentary afternoon tea with pastries and Turkish delights. Guests were at liberty to take their tea to their rooms or the roof terrace.
Hotel staff were exceptionally friendly, polite and professional and responded to all reasonable requests.
We did not have the time to use the fitness centre or the sauna facilities on the lower floor.
On the whole a friendly and charming staff that do their best to make everyone's stay as pleasant as possible.

Room Tip: All rooms should be good.

Great position and really nice hotel. But to me, the staff were the hotel's best asset. They were amazing!! Arthur in particular was fabulous!! He and his Mother helped me with a personal issue and I cannot thank him enough. Barry, the front desk manager was also extremely helpful. The buffet breakfast and afternoon tea were delicious. I would highly recommend this hotel. Thanks heaps from Hilary and Sam.

Thank you Amira Hotel staff for going above and beyond to make our trip to Istanbul memorable. From the welcome cocktail on the roof, transportation organizing, map assistance, flight changing assistance, restaurant and shopping suggestions - the hotel staff was 2nd to none.

Hotel location couldn't be better! Walk to the Blue Mosque, Grand Bazaar, and Spice Bazaar. Close to the tram system. Taxim square is also walkable if you like a long leisurely stroll and a few stops along the way for a drink or some baklava!

The hotel itself is modern and updated, totally clean, and the roof top terrace is perfect for a late night cocktail to end the day. The breakfast is typical to the area with lots of variety, and everything was so fresh. There is also a complimentary daily tea!

We will definitely be going back to the Hotel Amira!

After having read the reviews on Tripadvisor we decided to make a reservation at this hotel. It was really great - the rooms (we booked two) were great and we had absolutely nothing to complain about! The hotel is close to everything and there are taxis outside the hotel all the time. We enjoyed high tea whenever we could which was a nice value add. We recommend this hotel with confidence! Thank you to the wonderful staff for taking such good care of us and being so friendly and helpful - keep up the good work.

Room Tip: Corner room is really nice with lots of windows (light)
