“visit & feel the difference”
Reviewed 5 May 2013

I heard lot about Laksala and first time visit couple of days a go to buy a small handicraft item as a birthday gift. I didn’t have much time to stay there and initially planned to spend 5 – 10 minutes there & buy something in a rush and exit as soon as possible. But believe me! I was there almost 1 ½ hours inside. (Laksala - thumulla showroom) It was an amazing collection and I never seen that kind of handicraft product range in Sri Lanka. There products finishing quality is lot more better than commonly we seen items and price is not very much (any way prices are fixed prices) comparing to quality of product. If you’re shopping Laksala one thing guaranteed. It’s a government owned institution and it will minimized the threat of cheating and 2nd quality goods. (Especially for wooden articles) one thing I noticed in Laksala. That’s customer equality. Either foreign customer or local customer they treat same superior manner. Sales staff well trained team and they are not forced me to buy something. On the other hand, they promote the poor rural skillful craftsman’s products and each rupee I spend at Laksala will effect to growth there & there childrens (they are publish inside that) life status. Honestly feel, indirectly I contribute a social responsibility from my end. If you’re really handicraft lover visit Laksala and feel the difference. Can firmly recommend

“Shopping for Handicrafts@Colombo”
Reviewed 30 April 2013

Found a very good array of wooden masks, varieties of teas & various handicraft items. While you can also find them at the local markets for a lesser price, Laksala is a government run enterprise, so authenticity would be assured. Plus, if you are tied for time, located at the heart of the city, its a quick stop to grab a lot of give aways for friends & family.

“Great Shopping at Laksala Sri Lanka”
Reviewed 18 April 2013

I visited Laksala outlet located at Colombo on 17th April 2013. It was a far more great experience than I was expected. I was looking for some wooden crafted statues and I was managed to find a rarely find very carefully designed items. I was looking for these statues for sometime and I visited few places to find those but I couldn't find item so neatly done like items available at Laksala. That's why I decided to write this review to help others to inform a right place without wasting their time.
Their customer service is fantastic. Very friendly and experienced staff helped me to find the best match I was looking for. They also have an ample parking space which is very important in a city like Colombo.
Only minus point I found about Laksala is their prices. It is little bit (about 10%) higher than some other vendors in the Sri Lankan market. But as per the quality of the items available at Laksala and the service and facilities available there, this price difference is forgettable. So I'm gladly recommends you the Laksala Sri Lanka for your shopping.

Thank you

“Best place for Sri Lankan items”
Reviewed 17 April 2013

Laksala is the cheapest place to buy souvenirs from Sri Lanka. It has a large verity of things plus online catalog too (http://www.laksala.gov.lk/). I am a frequent visitor to the Bauddhaloka Mawatha branch that do have ample parking plus near by coffee shop.

I always recommend you to avoid other expensive gift shops that tour operators are suggesting and experience this place.
