I took my kids there earlier tonight after probably a couple of years and man it was heartbreaking and depressing.
We have been going there since our childhood and it was a raw place till Kamran Lashari developed the Margalla Hills and converted a forest top into a world class park and city observatory.
It had been great for a few years after he left the CDA and now the place looks haunted and broken.
First they closed down the parking lot which is near the main Daman-e-Koh point and now you have to park near the access road where they have kids rides. You have to walk around 500m from there to reach up there.
It's ok as long as you are going in the day but as we went there after sunset and it was pitch dark with only a single light from the lower parking lot till the top one.
I had young kids so it was a very hard and uncomfortable walk for us.
The point itself is very I'll maintained and was extremely dirty and very near to be filthy. It looked like no cleaning has been for a few days and there were remains of spilled drinks and food everywhere with a strange stink everywhere.
It was weekend but no wonder the place was almost deserted.
Even up there only a few lights were switched on and we couldn't stay there for long.
A few sections of the park were also closed down with makeshift scaffoldings.
It was really disappointing and painful to see a great place to almost getting ruined.
CDA doesn't care about the public places anymore. Same has happens to the Fatima Jinnah Park, Lakeview Park, the Zoo and even Faisal Masjid.
Nobody is asking you to create new places but atleast save what you inherited from those good guys.
If it was not the natural beauty I would have rated it even lower.
Shame on you CDA!!!
