Owner description: Chinggis Khaan Statute complex is situated 54 km from Ulaanbaatar City, with the view of beautiful natural scenery on the bank of the Tuul River, a historical place where Chinggis khan’s golden whip was found. Today, for a memory of the man of the millennium, a 40 meters high stainless steel statue of Chinggis Khaan on a horseback is the largest among the statues in the world. Inside the statue we operate a restaurant, souvenir shop, two museums and conference hall. Visitors can go up the statue using the elevator or the stairs to the head of the horse where they can have a panoramic view of the beautiful landscape.

Nice to see but not absolutely necessary. The view from the top of the statue and the visit to the museum were interesting

Its about an hour out of ub. But worth the trip out there. About 10 years old now and seeing the effects of the changes of temperatures and poor workmanship.

The trip up to the top is not easy. The lift which should take 450kg really only takes about 250kg. Which makes it difficult for elderly people as the steps are narrow and there are a lot of them.

A stunning piece of engineering to the east of Ulaanbataar. 259 tonnes of stainless steel this really is a site to see amid the wilderness of the steppe.

There is a small museum at the site and a restaurant (I did not partake in the restaurant faire so I am unable to comment on this).

There were plans to build an entire complex (this was supposed to be completed by 2010), however the funding dried up and on the statue and museum have been built.

I visited during the off season and there were very few people there, however I have been told that during the summer there are a lot of visitors.

It is possible to take a lift (or the stairs if you are feeling energetic) to the viewing platform on the horse's head (well worth a look).

The cost to enter the museum was (in 2018) about £2.50 (8,500T).

Not very much here apart from the statue which is spectacular. You can climb to the top and take in the views. It is in the middle of nowhere so you get a real feeling of the vastness and remoteness of this attraction. Not to be missed!

Go and enjoy. It's simply a nice and unique place to visit. Great for photos, and can be included into a visit to the nearby Terelj National Park.
