“Good, Cheap, but dont hang around area.”
Reviewed 23 December 2011

Price: 12 USD/ night

Pros: cheap, super friendly owners, air con

Cons: surrounding area is not nice at all

Bottom Line: Recommended, but make sure you take a tuk tuk to the river to do anything. Area surrounding is not nice.

When I first turned up I wasn't that impressed with room - it was clean but very old fashioned and the batheroom was pretty rubbish!! I was cursing the Lonely Planet for having it as their Star Pick!! Having got over that moment, actually the place was ok and as Phenom Phen is more expensive than the other places I'd been in Cambodia, actually it probably wasn't that bad a deal. The staff were very friendly with great English. I met some great guys and we ended up at Cambodia vs Myanmar at the "Olympic" stadium about 10mins walk from the guesthouse - great fun except for the monsoon!!! Would I recommend it - not sure, I don't know what else there was in the city but I had a good time which is all that really matters!!

My friend and I stayed at Sunday Guesthouse for three nights in April 2011. It's a charming family-run hostel with very helpful owners and friendly staff (the tuk-tuk drivers who work there are so funny!).
While the hostel itself is pretty standard, it is clean, and the cheap rates and lovely people who run the place more than make up for any lack of glamour. We stayed in Cambodia for 2 weeks and Sunday Guesthouse was definitely the best hostel for us!

Conveniently located near the O Russei market area where the bus from Sihanoukville stopped. Upon arriving originally, I was told that my booking hadn't been taken so I was politely placed in an adjacent guest house for a night which was acceptable albeit with no internet access. Have stayed at the Sunday Guesthouse a couple of times and the third floor room was better and quieter than the one on the ground floor. However, rooms are clean and wireless worked well. You can book tours and onward travel here (which I did for convenience) but I'd probably shop around next time. Killing Fields film is a must-see and is shown in the restaurant area every night.

Room Tip: Downstairs room noisy

We stayed here for 2 nights and paid something like £2 each a night. Not sure what to expect but was pleased with what we had. The rooms were clean, and quiet. The breakfast was good, and the staff were friendly.
The location is about a $2 ride away from the River front which, could be a good thing.
