“Cute place with creative dishes”
Reviewed 5 May 2012

We enjoyed a nice meal at this cute restaurant. When we first saw the menu, it did not look promising because the design of the menu was really off. But when food was brought to us, we're pleasantly surprised to find out that all dishes are artfully presented and quite tasty.

“Used to be Good - now disappointing”
Reviewed 2 May 2012

Green Tangerine used to be the meeting place for lunch for all the top diplomats and aid people. However, since the chef moved to La Badiane it seems to have crashed. A pity as it was a nice atmosphere with good service and especially good fusion cuisine.
Hopefully it will get back into its stride, but it needs something new and fresh to attract back its old clientele.

“Real shame, poor service from start. Didn't eat here!”
Reviewed 1 May 2012 via mobile

My partner and I arrived at approx 7.30pm last night, it was busy-ish but not with a que etc. Having read the reviews we were excited to eat here on our last night in Hanoi, we stood for about 10 mins looking at the menu and trying to attract staffs attention, there were 3 staff around who saw us and just continued to faff about, clear some glasses etc. So we left! Shame and very disappointed.

“Way above expectations”
Reviewed 30 April 2012

Recommended by our Guide, Tour Operator, and the Hotel, so for our 1st night in Hanoi, we decided to push the boat out and 'fine dine'.

Really pleased we did.

Tucked away in a House in the Old Quarter, it felt as if one was dining in a shlertered courtyard - a delight.

We both had crab in mille feuille as a starter, then I had gambas as a main. Now 'gambas' to me means prawns. However, and I have no idea what they feed them on, but these were huge - akin to small lobsters, and were super too.

My wife had a Steamed White Fish on a risotto wrapped leaf (banana possibly) and summed it up as exquisite.

Definitely commend the Wine List too, as among a reasonable selection across the price range and colour options, and Wine Regions of the World ( we had an Italian Orvieto at 650 or so), we discovered their Upmarket Selection. Clos d'Estornel, Margaux (2000), Haut Brion (1982), was a Petrus (don't recall the year for some reason ..... !), at a mere 110,000 VND. Then I remembered that the prices were missing the other 3 zeros, so it was actually 110,000,000 (yes - 110 million Vietnamese Dong). At 20,000 to the US Dollar, I was successfully restrained from ordering any.

Joking aside - thoroughly commend this place - Food quality, Service, Ambience and Wines. Clientele was very "out-of-town Visitors" (European and Australian Tourists).

No it is not for the price sensitive and when one considers what you can eat for price-wise, this was expensive. But as a treat we felt it was well worth it and we enjoyed it very much.
