This lake is a center of life in downtown Hanoi. There's plenty happening here all the time. It's especially nice on Saturday when they close the road around it to traffic. But it's fun to see all the activity on other days.

The perimeter streets surrounding the lake are closed to vehicular traffic from Friday evening to Sunday evening. This allows the pedestrian to focus on his or her surroundings rather than dodging scooters, buses and cars. The lake itself is really not the attraction, it is small and green with algae.

Just a stroll around the lake and listen to the tragic story of the prince and princess and turtle(wont spoil), the rich culture and story telling of the Vietnamese people is impressive and hard to forget. Watch out when you get a cab from here though.

Walked several times around the side nearest the water puppet theatre and enjoyed the coolness and breezy air from the lake. The lake however was a military green so no one even paddling in it. Many wooden seats lakeside however several had wooden slats missing, unable to use. Just across the road was a classy garden bar/bistro for beers or coffee in a location to easily view the lake. A very inexpensive place to while away a few hours even helping students wishing to practice their English which was enjoyable.

A lovely little lake situated between the French quarter as well as the Old Quater of Hanoi. Surrounded by a strip of parklands chock-full locals savoring the lake, getting hitched, folks watching and simply enjoying life on the whole. 2 beautiful little temples adorn the lake, one particular covered by among probably the prettiest footbridges you can imagine. This's a photographers dream, each because of the scenery itself and also the folks enjoying the scenery.

Lovely place to do many things such as night market on Sunday (roads are closed so it’s great for pedestrians/families), enjoy some nature in the hustle and bustle of Hanoi or just walk around the lake and watch life go by. Nearby is the French Quarter too.

Location of the lake is central of Hanoi, close to Old Quarter. In the morning or late afternoon was a great time to me when I was in the city. Went for a walk with trees, gardens and some symbolic buildings. But sometimes polluted.

I enjoyed walking around it especially during weekends where you can see a lot of shows near it and beside the Main Street. Definitely I will come back to it.

Lovely lake with Pagoda in middle of lake that is accessible to view. A walk around the lake is easy and shaded for an hour with a stop or two for photos.
