We were on Dragon Pearl 2 which I think caters for 20 passengers. There were 14 passengers on our 3 day 2 night trip and we were lucky to meet such nice people. The boat is lovely - compact but very cosy cabins, hardly any engine noise, nice bar and dining room and plenty of sun beds on deck. The staff were all really friendly and helpful - particular thanks to the chef who produced so much amazing food and Chung the tour leader who made sure we all knew what to expect at all times and had a really nice manner with a good sense of humour.
Apparently we were very lucky with the weather for the time of year - kayaking in the bay was amazing as was the barbecue on a remote beach that followed. We had expected the bay to be overrun by tourist boats but this was not the case. I would definitely recommend the 2 night trip as you get away from the main area - we hardly saw another boat.
Can't recommend this company highly enough.

LOVED the dragon pearl cruise! I think 3 days and two nights is the perfect amount of time in Bai Tu Long Bay. Halong Bay is very crowded with many boats, but Bai Tu Long Bay is relaxing and quiet yet still incredibly stunning the whole ride.

We loved our tour. The boat was beautiful with lovely, comfortable lawn chairs on the top deck. The boat has brand new rain showers with great water pressure and temperature. The food was plentiful (maybe a bit too much at times!) and so so delicious.

We went kayaking, had a 6 or 8 course meal on the beach, visited a fishing village, explored a cave where locals used to live, and more. Everything was perfect.

Our tour guide, Tom, was very helpful and caring of our needs. He spoke English perfectly and did a great job making us comfortable on the boat.

I have never been on a trip where my dealing with a company and its staff consistently dramatically exceeded my expectations! We were on a 3 day two night tour of Bai Tu Long Bay. The area is beautiful. Everywhere you look you see another post card. That's a great start, after all that is why you went. The guide (Coco) and the crew on the boat can't be beat. They see to your every need and more. The chief made marvelous multi coursed meals. Another crew member played a vietnamese flute after dinner one night. BBQ lunch on the beach one day. Every day is a marvelous adventure. This company was recommended to us, and we are so glad. I would recommend the Dragon Pearl Junks to anyone who asked. You will not be disappointed.

We were picked up in Hanoi From our hotel and driven to Halong Bay. In a private car a journey which was expected to take 4 hours but I am sure it only took 3 hours. We had a 2 day one night trip on the Dragon Pearl Junk Boat. We had a guide and private car so we left our luggage with them which is quite safe. and only took what we required on board as there is not a lot of room in the cabin for luggage. Our guide on the Dragon Pearl junk boat was Kim and he was excellent.
There were 18 of us on board and it was nice crowd of people. A mixture of English Australian, French, Brazialian and American.
The cabins were compact had a nice window to view the scenery. Shame about the rain and mist. It was clean and a good shower.
I thought the food on board was good. They took extra care with my husband no spice and especially no coriander and not a lover of fish so they prepared separate dishes for him and anybody else who had dietary requirements.
Upon boarding we had lunch then a trip to the caves and kayaking.
The weather was not kind to us it was cold and after the kayaking the rain came.
We then had a cooking demonstration where the chef who was only young but very good showed us how to make spring rolls. This was really good fun, and he thought mine were really good which a nice surprise . They were then cooked for our evening meal.
Dinner was good. There were two Birthdays that day and the chef made them a wonderful Birthday cake. Kim played his musical instrument and sang which was entertaining and very traditional. Lovely evening.
After breakfast he next day we got into the smal, boats rowed by local women around the local floating Fishing Village. The weather got wetter and wetter. Plastic rain macs were offered except there were 2 short that was myself and husband.
After the village you go to the local oyster and pearl factory. Then you can buy the pearl jewellery. I thought they were all on the expensive side,
Back to the boat for brunch and disembark.
Wonderful experience and treasured memories.

We boarded the Dragons pear 3

Our tour guide Kim was friendly and super funny.

Staff were welcoming and accommodating.

The drive from and to Hanoi is very long 3-4 hours but the vans are comfortable.

Food on the boat needed more attention.
Sharing plates on the table with other passengers is not a good idea and makes for an awkward dining experience.

Also the quality of food wasn’t great. Meat was too fatty , too salted and lukewarm so were other dishes.Definitely not a luxury experience as advertised. Felt more like rushed and disappointing.

Breakfast and brunch was a better experience and there was an ala carte choice.

I would recommend maybe a few free drinks instead of piles of different plates. A couple glasses of free wine at dinner would make up for the lack of entertainment or any mobile /wifi connection, weather.

The cabin had big windows with great views but also had a smell. The linen seemed to be dirty ( yellow stains ) or too used.

Great hot shower and nice ambience in the cabin at night.

upon arrival we had lunch which was ok then straight on to the boat and a little hiking to the caves followed by kayaking which was fun. Then was dinner which was disappointing and not much else to do than head to your cabin by 8. Weather didn’t help as you couldn’t hang out on the deck. It was pretty cold.

Next morning was breakfast which was some omelette with toast jam and butter / tea -coffee choice and juice.
A visit to a fishing village followed which was a great experience as you get into a small boat and they row you around the village. Short stop to see how the villagers live and how they extract pearls from oysters.

Then back to the boat for brunch and back to the bay to return to hanoi.

There was a water puppet show planned but the people in the van opted to miss it as there was the finals of Asia cup where Vietnam was playing and didn’t wanna get stuck in traffic.

All in all it was a different experience but definitely need to manage expectations as it depends on what you get on the day weather , food , people , guide etc
