Owner description: Jasmine is the second of Heritage Line’s gracious boutique ships in Halong Bay. Visitors looking for both comfort and adventure in Halong Bay will appreciate the Jasmine’s friendly crew and understated elegance. With 23 cabins, Jasmine is built in the style of a traditional Vietnamese junk, with three tawny sails and dark wood-cladding. Jasmine’s interiors, just like the exteriors, are covered in polished wood, lending Jasmine the stately air of an Indochina-era cruising boat.

An absolute must when you are in north Vietnam. This is a stunning boat all old style wood and glamour. The staff are all lovely so friendly and Mr Big singing to the honeymoon couples something we will never forget.
Food was delicious and rooms lovely especially ones with private balcony.
An added extra of course is the beautiful scenary. A great experience highly recomended

A Halong Bay trip is a "must do " when you visit Vietnam. Halong Bay has breathtaking scenery and we were delighted we got to experience this on the Jasmine Junk. The boat is lovely with an old worldly feel with plenty of levels for seating to admire the views. The cabins are well appointed and spotlessly clean with amazing views as you wake up in the morning. The food was good, fresh with lots of choice for all. The staff were amazing! They were warm and friendly giving lots of information as well as organising the activities so well. We really enjoyed the visit to the UNESCO fishing village and cave but passed on climbing the steps to the top of Ti Top island. Halong Bay speaks for itself but our trip was made more special by being on the Jasmine Junk.Highly recommended!!!!

They were warm and friendly giving lots of information as well as organising the activities so well. We really liked the attention to detail as two couples were on their honeymoon and they received flowers, champagne and a song from the Manager at dinner. We really enjoyed the visit to the fishing village, cave and climbing the 420+ steps to the top of Ti Top island, where the view was absolutely worth the effort! Halong Bay speaks for itself but our trip was made more special by being on the Jasmine Junk.

Where do you start with this ? A Halong Bay trip is a "must do" when you're in Vietnam. The limestone carps are genuinely stunning when you see them. Don't be fooled though....the romantic notion which you may have sitting in the travel agents about you and your partner sailing off into the distant waters for a quiet evening dinner cruise before returning to shore in the morning will soon evaporate as you arrive at the dock to see the hundreds of other vessels (and hence '000's of others) all heading out to sea! That said it was a truly brilliant 22 hours. We were looked after so well on board. All the staff on board were so nice and helpful. We deliberately chose a small craft (24 cabins). Our cabin was fabulous, very well appointed and extremely comfortable. Other reviews have suggested that life on board is pretty regimented - it is, but it doesn't spoil the fun. Food was great too - freshly produced, well presented and extremely tasty. The trips ashore were okay but our visit by rowing boat to a fishing village was a fascinating insight into a life which most of us probably can't comprehend. So glad we did it.

We did the one day cruise, I know others do two days but I seriously question what more you'd get out of a second day? Your choice - we all have different expectations but either way you'll be intrigued by the 'race' back to shore in the morning when the hundreds of vessels which all set out the previous day race back to shore to quickly turnaround and head back out to sea with another load of tourists. Makes the M25 look like a children's roundabout !

Overall? Great fun.

We had a wonderful 3 day 2 night cruise on the Jasmine Junk in Feb 18 and nearly everything about the whole experience was first class. We had a room on the2nd floor with a balcony and although slightly tired it was very clean and had a perfectly adequate bed, toilet and shower. The boat itself is again slightly run down but you could argue that this adds to the appeal of the experience.
The staff are wonderful and very professional. (I received a surprise Birthday cake on my first evening), this was totally unexpected as it was not actually my birthday during the cruise, the cake as well as all the food was exceptional and put some top class restaurants to shame. The tours were well organised and the boat you travel on during the 2nd day of the cruise ( the Sunrise) is also superb with excellent standards of food and service. Halong Bay itself if a magical place to visit and we feel it is a must do tour while in Vietnam.
The only word of caution I would like to impart is that it can become extremely cold ( 12 deg. during our stay) but if you dress accordingly this will not ruin your experience. The cruise does occasionally repeat its route if you have booked the 2 night stay but it is still wonderful.
We would definitely recommend this tour.
