My partner and I done the 3 day 2 night cruise and both really enjoyed it. The cabin is small but big enough and the staff were really friendly and helpful the food was excellent. How tour guide was Tom who was very knowledgable about the bay and also the cave and fishing village we visited. We also was able to go kayaking and swimming.

My husband and I did the 3 day/2 night cruise and really enjoyed it. It was very cool for most of our trip so we didn’t dine on the deck or go swimming. We went kayaking with our cruise director Kim. Had bbq lunch on a beach whilst admiring the junk with its sails up in the bay, and visited a floating fishing village. We all made spring rolls, had a food carving demonstration and one of the staff played traditional flute music for us. The food on board was good and plentiful and the staff were all very friendly.

Enormously exceeded our expectations. Took the 2 day / 1 night tour. Halong Bay itself was stunning, and enjoyed the activities including Kayaking and visiting the floating village. The comfort and cleanliness of the room was better than we expected, as was the quality of service and food. The meals were excellent, how they managed to prepare them in the small galley I am not sure, but hats off to them. Would highly recommend.

We had difficulty deciding which boat - a large vessel as opposed to a smaller one. In the end we decided smaller, and were happy with that decision. We were aboard with 16 other guests of varying ages for the three days. The cabin, the food, the escorted kayaking, the barbeque lunch on a quiet and clean beach were all highlights, along with the beautiful Bai Tu Long Bay. Each meal was served at lovely tables on the very pretty wooden deck of the Indochina Junk as we sat back and admired the rock formations. Everything was included except beverages, which were not particularly cheap! Party boats are becoming popular on Ha Long Bay, this Dragon Pearl was not one of them.

Occasionally, rarely, five stars is inadequate to rate a travel experience. It will deserve some additional recognition. So it is with Dragon Pearl Cruises which provides in every respect a superior travel experience beyond a five star rating.

We were recommended to this 3-day trip by a friend who had been very impressed a year earlier. It certainly didn’t disappoint. The cruise takes in a section of Ha Long Bay which is quieter and less travelled by tourist traffic, but no less spectacular. The views are terrific and the Junk just the right size for an intimate cruise. The onboard meals are excellent and it was encouraging to see conical-hatted fisherman sculling up to the boat to deliver live fish for the chef to prepare. The accommodation is fine, certainly if you book an upper deck cabin.

The cruise stops for a lunch on a deserted beach, visits a fascinating cave, there’s kayaking and, on the third day, I believe, a stop at a fishing village. I say ‘believe’ because at the end of our second day a fierce weather front was squalling in from the South China Sea and the bay was ordered cleared by the Coast Guard. It was then that the Dragon Pearl operators really showed their class: various arrangements were quickly established for the customers, including in our case being whisked back to Hanoi and, as our hotel had no vacancies, being booked into a fine hotel in the same vicinity. The apportioned part of the cost of the cruise was refunded to our credit card to the extent of the deposit, and the balance delivered to our hotel in cash.

Highly recommended.
