Located on a secluded promontory point in Pattaya you’ll find the delightful Monttra. The location is secluded and lush, with superb vistas of the gulf of Thailand. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. The rooms are simple, modern and with a quite large bathroom/shower area (at least in the plunge pool room we had!). But the real gem of Monttra is Kiin - the on-site restaurant which serves some of the most delicious Thai food we’ve had during our three years in Thailand! The cooking at Kiin is truly outstanding. Monttra shares a small beach with the sailing club next door. It’s a perfectly serviceable beach for a dip in the ocean. But, if you’re looking for a hotel where you can have lazy afternoons on the beach, then this is not the place for you. During weekdays the sailing club is relatively quiet, so once you walk down the steps to the beach you can have it to yourself. But on the weekends the sailing club is fairly frenetic, so you will be dodging dinghies and catamarans to find your way across the sand. That said, the infinity pool is lovely and the views are wonderful! So I don’t think the beach situation should be a deal breaker as Monttra has so many other qualities to recommend it. Finally, my only suggestion is that the management invest in a greater supply of pool towels - for some inexplicable...Located on a secluded promontory point in Pattaya you’ll find the delightful Monttra. Finally, my only suggestion is that the management invest in a greater supply of pool towels - for some inexplicable reason these were in short supply throughout our 3 day stay and that’s not good for a pool/beach hotel! Monttra is the perfect getaway for a few days and you won’t even realize you’re amidst the hustle and bustle of Pattaya in this quiet oasis!More
