Stayed their spontaneously for 5 days after we left Koh Samui for its heavy rain which we didn’t expect. So we were looking for a place to catch some more sun before heading back home and ended up at The Intercontinental Pattaya.
The hotel is a very nice top 5 star hotel even though it might be a bit older it does not reflect it as it is furnished in classic Thai style which never gets old, though.
There are some modern rooms it seems but as we preferred ocean view we ended up in one of the classics which was absolutely great. Pretty big room with a high ceiling. Top-notch cleaned.
The bathroom does look indeed a bit older but that didn‘t bother us at all. The green tiles are actually quite cool, so if they consider to paint the wood in a more brighter color, e.g. white oak bleached it would get even a more cooler touch with a minor effort.
Food is really great. Breakfast is a bit more Asian focussed but it did the deal for us. If you have an extra wish they do their best to get to you whatever you prefer.
Staff is outstanding! Whether it is at the reception, shout out to Danny (hope I spelled it right) from the concierge team - he is doing a brillant job - the restaurant, the bell boys, everyone at the beach and the Spa....Stayed their spontaneously for 5 days after we left Koh Samui for its heavy rain which we didn’t expect. Not everyone is fluent in English which was a bit confusing but we never faced an issue due to that.
They have three pools and a little private beach. While almost everyone stayed at the pools we literally had the beach for ourselves which was great. You cannot really swim in the ocean, it‘s a bit rocky but could as they have an access to it.
Shuttle to Pattaya is offered as well for free which is great if wanna have a look what‘s going on down there. Watch-out: it is a complete different world. Even though so close to Pattaya (8 mins drive) the Intercontinental is a little oasis by itself which we enjoyed so much. It is really nice place with lots of plants and if you look left and right with all those skyscrapers it is incredible to stay there in total calm.
We also considered staying at the Royal Cliff next door but somehow went for the Intercontinental which was definitely the right choice for us.More
