The hotel is located at the center of the city close to the beach very close to the Walking Street. We arrived and they told us this is the last room available we got in and we could not breathe from very bad mold smell!!! we are asked to replace the room and they were out of rooms available we could not breathe and sleep with the window open the whole time. The service was very bad along the way, we ask four towers that allowed only two we asked to talk the concierge they promise to call us back and they never did. I'm not recommended this place at all. the breakfast was okay with a variety options to eat but that was the only benefit of this hotel

Ornate decor creates a sense of opulence, with high ceilings, beautiful tiled floors and bathrooms. All in all a clean spacious hotel. Buffet breakfasts include vast array of cuisines to start your day ranging from usual fresh tropical fruits, eggs, coffee and tea as well as many Asian favourites to choose from. Indoor/outdoor dining available throughout the day. Excellent roof top swimming pool overlooking Gulf of Siam with very comfortable deck chairs and fresh towels daily to laze away poolside while reading, swimming or people watching. Very good air conditioned gym alongside pool with quality cardio machines as well as free weights. On site a 24 hour mini supermarket.
Staff are shy, could be more outgoing and make effort to practice their English skills with guests.

Room tip: Beautiful views over bayside from many hotel balconies. Rooms closer to road may be noisier. Quieter rooms do not have bay views.

If you get a good rate then this is worth staying. Location is good and central.

Other than that not much else positive to say.

Extremely rude cashier at reception spoke to me like dirt - how can you have staff like that on reception??? What training did you give??? (and no it was not a cultural misunderstanding... most Thai people are wonderful!!) rest of staff really good.

No great hot water, toilets don't flush properly (management aware as they have signs above loos), toilet paper so cheap it disintegrates as you take it off the roll (ffs a few extra baht!!), ac thermostat not working (off or freezing), hotel security really poor... walking through a restaurant with luggage is not very pleasant and anyone can access lifts.

Let me start this by saying that there wasn't anything terrible about the LK Empress. The lobby was nice, the breakfast looked decent, and the rooms were a decent sized. However, at the price point they were charging, the hotel had a couple of glaring deficiencies. First, the elevators were terrible. You would get on, push the appropriate floor, sit there a couple of seconds until you realized that it cleared your entry. I don't know what was up with it's electronics but was a consistent annoyance. Second, hot water, or lack thereof. Third the jacuzzi was useless. Between the lukewarm water, low water pressure, and huge tub....it was useless. I gave up on it after spending 15 minutes watching it fill 1/3 the way. Lastly, the property is starting to show some age. The ceiling molding had pulled slightly away but no one had caulked/fixed....etc. really minor things but I would have expected a hotel in this price range to have been better maintained. It's a shame because the location is terrific, the staff were nice, and it should be a great hotel but right now it's probably a 3 * place at a 4* price.

Just back from LK The Empress.

Positives: Great location (near beach, walking street and shops/ food courts), friendly staff, comfy bed, nice shower, nice food, Breakfast adequate, price was ok (£954 for 14 nights) plus late check out (approx £40), sheets cleaned daily, decent TV channels, nice room lighting. Decent internet in room, quick check in and good check out. Good manageress IMO

Negatives: Poor quality balcony, had to move room 2 times due to ants in bathroom sink and table where kettle was, breakfast was full on several occasions and waited to be seated and the food ran out, same problem for dinner, pool area does not get the sunshine due to seclusion.

Overall 8/10 well done!

Room tip: Top floor are the newer rooms.
