Description: Real American food is what we offer at Butter is Better Diner & Bakery. We pride ourselves on making food the old-fashioned way. No shortcuts and no MSG. We make our own Corned Beef, Pastrami, Pulled Pork, Canadian Bacon, All-beef hamburgers, Pickles, Sauerkraut, Jams. etc. Most of what we offer can be served Gluten Free. We make our own gluten-free bread, bagels, brownies, cookies, and all kinds of cakes. Of course, we also offer a big variety of standard bakery items made with wheat flour. For breakfast we offer such classics as Eggs Benedict, homemade buttermilk pancakes (regular and gluten-free) waffles, and homemade sausages. And, of course, bagels-and-lox. If you're craving old-fashioned American food, the kind it's hard to find even in the States, give us a try.

We have not found a good/hearty breakfast in Thailand like we are used to starting our day with in America until we found Butter is Better. Reasonable prices and great comfort food for those traveling. We were happy to stumble upon this in Chiang Mai!

I am from Hong Kong and we do not get this style of dining very often - and when you do manage to find it, it costs you an arm and a leg. Butter is Better offers a truly unique and authentic American dining experience, while not skimping out on any of the important qualities!

Their menu is fun and interactive, and ingredients refrain from using excess sugar or salt. The menu is massive and is stuffed with all of your favourite American classics. Be sure to try their milkshakes, best milkshake I've ever had. I love their coleslaw too. While this restaurant may be considered mid-high range for Thailand, it is cheap for someone from Hong Kong! A super great location too with the night market just up the road and other exciting things to see and do nearby.

I was excited to visit an American diner type restaurant but found the place to be incredibly overpriced. It was nearly 250 Baht for a hotdog and then their menu doesn’t include tax so that is added on to your bill at the end as well. The food was okay, nothing special. A little like a microwave meal, soggy, dry and falling to pieces on my plate. Overall I think it was nearly 600 Baht for one hot dog meal, French’s fries, one meat loaf meal and a smoothie. I know I could have ordered a feast for that in any other real restaurant in Thailand. And what I got was an overpriced, lacklustre TV dinner. The staff look like they don’t care so much and the place looks untidy and like no real love or attention has gone into the theme of creating an American diner. Honestly one of the poorest restaurants in Chiang Mai. Give it a miss!

Hot dogs at our restaurant actually cost 90 baht, not "nearly 250 Baht" as you claimed. And as it's an all-beef New York style frank, and an extra long one to boot, I think that would be considered a pretty good deal even in the USA. And beef in Thailand is actually more expensive than it is in the USA. And the meatloaf is also all beef. Also, it comes with mashed potatoes, gravy and vegetables. It's such a substantial serving that sometimes 2 customers order just one serving of meatloaf between them.. Maybe you expect our prices to be competitive with the Thai food sold on the street and at low end restaurants? Thai food can be insanely delicious in those venues but it's generally mostly rice or noodles, with the meat used as flavoring. So, no, we can't compete with Thai food on price..As for the tax not being included in the price of the items, is that commonly the case where you come from? That doesn't accord with my experience in the West..There's no way to resolve questions of taste, but on matters of fact and practice, your review is both provably false and baselessly querulous.
