We stayed here for 2 short nights and couldn’t fault it. It is like so many other reviewers have said, a truly wonderful, boutique hotel that could be the best place to stay in Chiang Mai.
The staff were so welcoming and helpful, always ready to help us or give us advice on where to go or eat. Our room was on the top level with a balcony. It was spacious but not overly huge. Great bathroom with ample towels and toiletries provided. The shower had great pressure and hot water. And comfy bed and pillows.
The location couldn’t be better I think. Its a few minutes walk to the night market area with quite a few restaurants and shops on the road along the river. The Warorot market is maybe a 10 minute walk and there is access to the rear of the Anusuran within 2 minute walk. Though the road out front can get busy, our room was very quiet. The pool was fantastic after a hot day walking around Chiang Mai. Breakfast was ample with fresh coffee and fruit – do try the local dishes instead of just toast and eggs.
I would happily stay there next time!

We've just spent a week at this hotel on recommendation of friends who live locally in Chiang Mai; we were originally considering 2 of the larger chain hotels. I am still wishing I was there. And am so glad we did not go to the larger hotels. This is a classic boutique hotel - small, friendly, slightly quirky. It is hard to find any negatives, although it would not necessarily suit everyone.

For me the big positives were: good location near to the river and the night market; beautifully laid out and furnished; spotlessly clean and well maintained, fabulously comfy bed, the horizon swimming pool, lots of hot water and plentiful bottled drinking water, delicious food and great cocktails, efficient AC, BBC World on the cable channels, free DVDs to borrow to play on the in room player, good wifi plus extra computers to use in the library/bar, lots of power sockets in the right places, orchids everywhere, attentive and charming staff; a lovely spa on site. We arranged a pick up from the airport with the hotes 1967 classic Merc - definitely the way to arrive in style (especially as it has been upgraded to have AC - so maybe not totally classic, but definitely comfortable). And there were lots of little things - like the turndown service and the anti mosquito plugs put into the bedside sockets each night. It was also really peaceful.. no noise from adjacent rooms, or the pool. And there were good public areas - notably the library and the veranda. Sometimes it felt more like a villa than a hotel.

Breakfast was included in our tariff, and was a modest but fresh buffet plus a good and well prepared choice of western and Thai hot dishes to order. I particularly loved the guava juice, fresh papaya, passion-fruit jam and multigrain toast, and the omelettes and fried noodles were delicious. My husband is now missing the local fried steamed sausage (moo yaw) which he had as a side dish to most things. And excellent fresh coffee always made to order by the cup. We also had the afternoon tea a couple of times - a good mix of eastern and western dishes - and more than enough for two people.

The things that were more quirky included the bedroom layout. We had a Royal Grand Deluxe room - which had a full width balcony shaded throughout the day and nice table and chairs. The slightly odd thing was that on entering the room you went straight into the bathroom rather than a hall - with a loo/shower/washhand basin area one end and a big bath the other end then a double door into the main room. The bathroom area ran the full width of the main bedroom. After a day this seemed normal.. and we realised it also provided a barrier between the bedroom and the roadside of the hotel, which could be quite noisy during morning and late afternoon rush hours. This layout might be off putting for some people, but was practical. The flat screen TV was quite small for a room of this size - fine to watch from the sofa, but a bit small to watch in bed. And although there was a comfy sofa and a chair at the desk, an extra armchair and coffee table might have been nice in the room.

We are definitely aiming to go back - it was very relaxing but also worked well for us as a base to tour around the city and the local area.

Room Tip: Go for the larger Grand Deluxe or Royal Grand Deluxe rooms - larger than the Deluxe

I like the previous review can't fault this hotel in the slightest. We were there for 4 nights and would thoroughly recommend the hotel for value, cleanliness, location and service. We stayed in a lovely in a Royal Grande Deluxe room which was fitted with everything we needed. The room service was efficient. The breakfast was buffet style, but you could have a cooked one if you preferred. The pool was very relaxing and at the time we had it to ourselves. We had dinner there one evening which was excellent Thai food. The wine list was great and the prices very reasonable.
The hotel itself it within walking distance of the "Night Market". Walking into the old town too was close by.
They have a 1967 Merc which is a talking point and we arranged our airport transport using this car.

Room Tip: All rooms are good with it being a small boutique hotel with only 19 rooms.

I cannot rate Ping Nakara highly enough. The hotel itself is beautiful - the attention to detail is amazing, and its location is very central. The rooms are very spacious and are fitted out with everything you could possibly need (including a DVD player), and the beds are very comfortable. The hotel also provides a pillow menu, though the pillows provided are more than comfortable as well. It also offers interconnecting rooms, which when you are travelling with children like I was is a godsend. The pool and "common areas" like the library and restaurant are well sheltered and kept very clean.
The staff were simply amazing. They helped make a great stay even better and are a credit to the hotel. Always smiling, always happy to help. We were there when they opened up the dam and flooded the town, and I couldnt think of a better place to be stuck in for 3 days! Even the staff that were directly impacted by the floods (and, indeed, were stuck at the hotel itself because they couldnt get home!) were still wonderful to deal with.
In my opinion you'd be mad to stay anywhere else.

We loved everything about this hotel. The rooms are beautifully furnished with nice amenities. The architecture is lovely with a very colonial feel. Staff very friendly and helpful. We took the the antique Mercedes from the airport which was a nice treat. The location is a short walk to the night market and night-life but far enough away to be out of the crowd and noise. We took the city tour that the hotel's concierge offered and enjoyed it with a very knowledgeable guide.
It was a great value for the money and we will definitely stay here again and recommend it to friends.

Room Tip: The grand deluxe rooms (204, 205, 206, 304, 305, 306) have the best and largest balconies looking ov...
