This hotel is gorgeous - the rooms are very big and furnish beautifully. The staff are so lovely and really helpful. The staff at the tour desk in the foyer were excellent and helped us decide on the best options and fit a lot in during our two day stay.
Breakfast is great - they make your eggs/pancakes etc to order.
Great value for money.
The spa was lovely, but as with all hotel spas it was more expensive than others in the area.
Good location, not far from the night markets.

We planned on only staying for 5 nights in Chiang mai and the Ping but as the floods in the south forced us to stay in the north we decided to stay at the Ping Nakara. It is a little expensive but you get what you pay for and we thought it was worth every penny. We did look at moving on after our 5 day stay but to be honest we couldn't find anywhere that could match the hotel and not wanting to be disappointed decided to stay and do lots of excursions.
The hotel is a beautiful piece of architecture and designed buy the same person who designed the mandarin (we where told) it is a small hotel and never felt full had it been full Then the limited pool area beds would have been an issue, but i guess people travelling to The ping are mainly short stay with the mind of Site seeing. We on the other hand spent a lot of time in the hotel.
The service was Impeccable, Each day we would receive Cold hand towels by the pool and My wife was given a china bell for service. ( so decadent we didn't use it as we felt embarrassed).
Our room which we upgraded to was the best room they had and it didn't disappoint the bed and pillow menu was lovely.
Food. well we certainly ate well in Chiang mai city and a lot cheaper than the south but we decided to eat in the restaurant on most occasions purely because of the presentation and quality at a ver reasonable price. Average price per course was 160 Baht which in thai standards is pricey but european is budget. I would say the same meal in the UK would be 3 times the price ( Now then Ping nakara don't put your prices up now).
I dont agree with a lot of the comments on TA with ref to the road noise. We where there for Songran and we didnt a thing as there is a Bathroom area and balcony between the room and the outdoors, incidentally can be shut off.
Would we recommend this hotel? Definitely worth the extra pennies. Would I recommend a long stay? well yes if you can completely relax and plan lots of trips out.
Ping Nakara. Thankyou for a wonderful stay and we will be back only if you promise to change the music once in a while by the pool..

Thank you very much for your wonderful review. Our people really appreciate your comments regarding our services and our architecture which is designed based on the Lanna Colonial style that was built around Chiang Mai a century ago.

It was our intention for making the price of food inexpensive, that way, our guests can enjoy our authentic Thai food as often as they like. It is also true for the affordable price of the beverages, and, as you may notice we also provide unlimited complimentary mineral water in every guest's room. So, please be assured that we won’t raise our prices on our food and drinks. :)

We wish you and your family all the best, and I hope that you can come back to stay with us again soon.

Kind regards,
Chairat

First time in Chiang Mai and we chose what turned out to be the perfect boutique hotel. Very well maintained with excellent service - one of the nicest and friendliest staff ever. It does not have a gym or too many restaurants but hey, idea is to eat out anyway! It has a well stocked welcoming liberary and plenty of corridor seating a la old colonial mansion style. Highly reccomended!!

This is a great little hotel. It is quite new but has a solid, classy old feel about it with lovely wide staircases and balconies and very nice rooms. Beds, in the Asian style, a little hard.

The staff were friendly and attentive but not overbearing. I particularly liked that the owner introduced himself and asked if we were enjoying our stay.

It's a short walk from the night market, but out of the way enough to be quiet. There's also a nice pool to relax in after a day out in the heat with a cute restaurant right next to it.

We stayed a week in this beautiful hotel near the Ping riverside. It's well located and the old centre can be easily reached by foot.
The stunning colonial architecture is exactly as on the pictures on their website. Also the rooms are very refined with an eye for detail. You get fresh fruits on your room every day and in the evening they put some fresh flowers or other vegetal ornaments on your cushion. It's this sorts of details that make the difference and makes you feel home right away. For Songkran they provided us even with buckets, waterguns and waterproof wallets, which we could very well use :-)
Breakfast is a combination of buffet and a menu and everything is very fresh. The restaurant in the evening serves good traditional thai food in a lovely setting.
Staff is very helpfull and friendly.
I also took advantage of a massage in the Spa and also here no bad comments. A relaxing atmosphere and friendly skilled staff.
If I really have to mention one minor point that could be improved in this great hotel it would be the lighting at the bathroom mirror. Just replace the saving lamps at the mirror by halogen lamps and it would be a good improvement.
When I would come back to Chiang Mai it would be defenitely in Ping Nakara again.
