We have visited this temple before but could not get the name. This year we asked two monks to translate for us.It is a very quite complex with very few tourists as it is just off the main road.
The buildings are very ornate with many new statues still covered up.The main hall is not open to see but I expect it could be really special..
It is just past the Thai airline office on the other side of the road through a small entrance, but worth seeing

Tucked away, down a narrow, yet impressive driveway lies this small temple complex. I stumbled upon this completely by accident while wandering around the Old City. I asked around, but not much was known beyond its name. This is most definitely a ‘working’ temple, not on the ‘tourist route.’ From what I gathered, this is a fairly new complex (or recently and completely restored) that surrounds an old and quite large stupa/chedi. The buildings are very ornate and feature lots of gold, statuary and halls/temples with extremely high rooflines. I saw just one devotee while I was here. A quiet, peaceful spot with some impressive architecture.

There are brash golden temples, but this one is a true delight to see. Go after breakfast when few people are around. The style combines what’s best of temples in this part of the world.

A nice old wat off the beaten track, very close to the north gate. It's very quiet here as very few tourists visit it

I am amazed that this temple does not receive the attention it deserves...the beauty of the architecture and art in this temple far surpasses many temples I visited in Chiang Mai and Bangkok, including Doing Suthep, which I feel is overrated (only go there if you have never seen a mountain in your life). Value delivered was outstanding as you don't need to pay an entrance fee, just make sure to keep quiet and wear something appropriate as many temples advertise.
In my opinion, if you visit Chiang Mai and do not see this temple is like going to Bangkok and not visiting the Grand Palace.
