“Basic but clean, friendly and good location”
Reviewed 21 September 2011

I've stayed at the Om Yim several times and continue to use the property for short stays (less than 5ngts) in BKK. It's location, right at Chong Nonsi is great for getting around without the need for a taxi. If using a taxi, ie: from the airport, make sure the driver is aware that you are staying near the 'station' of Chong Nonsi or they make take you further away to Chong Nonsi Road. There's wireless internet in your room or you may use for a limited time, facilities on the ground floor. A major benefit of staying here is that because it's a small property, the staff are friendlier and more helpful than what you may encounter in larger BKK properties. For longer stays, I prefer to have a pool, that's the only reason, for me at least, why I suggest it's best for a short stay.

Room Tip: Because there is not a lift, the first floor is best. Not a great deal of difference in room types o...

I have stayed here a few times and have always found the staff friendly. Rooms are very well priced, clean and the bed and pillows are so comfy!
other budget priced hotels in the area attract a sleazy clientele but I find the other gests friendly and quiet

would stay again

I have to admit that it's a bit of a pain getting a cab to the hotel - most of the time the driver wants to drop you off on the other side of the road (the only way across the road is to climb the stairs of the train stn and down again on the other side - the last thing I want to do at the end of the day)

I have stayed at Omyim about 10 times, since my first visit there in 2006. I really do feel this is my home from home, and I have recently started to visit other countries in the area, using Omyin in Bangkok as my base.

The rooms, I would describe as comfortable (certainly beyond basic), The rooms have all that you need, a comfortable bed, a workig, CLEAN bathroom, TV with a variety of channels including several English channels and 1 free to view English language movie channel. Air-con in every room and free wi-fi in room and in the lobby for guests.

There is also a computer terminal in reception with wi-fi, for those who leave their lap-top or notebook at home, but still want to go online.

The hotel is about 1 minute's walk from Chong Nonsi BTS and the new (and increasingly growing Bangkok railway system), Chong Nonsi is 1 station away from Sala Deung Station (This station is in the centre of the Silom gay district and also a substantial shopping and eating location). Sala Deung is also a conection station for the MRT, which is the Bangkok metro, and the gateway to the entire city.

All of the transport systems in Bangkok are enviously fast, efficeint and very cheap (they are also all fully air-conditioned, which is a real bonus).

Omyim Lodge is Gay-owned (Thai) and managed. All of the staff are extremely friendly, but they will allow YOU to dictate the level of involvement they have in your stay. They will be discreet, distant and professional, if that is your preference, equally they will chat with you, give you advice on attractions based on your wishes and have a laugh for those of us who prefer a less formal interaction.

Although a Gay-owned hotel, Omyim Lodge welcomes any guests, so long as they are respectful of the tolerant attitude of the guest house.

Omyim permits adult overnight guests, and requires photo ID of the guest, for the protection of the guest and the reputation of the guest house. This is one of only a few hotels that does not charge an overnight joiner fee.

There is a small resturant/cafe attached to the reception area, where breakfast is served and where meals can be purchased from guests and non-guests alike, until 4pm each day.

The menu is varied and has both western and Thai selections (very handy for a late late breakfast for you and your new friend)! This is one of the most inexpensive places i've eaten in, during my Bangkok vacations and the food is always very nice.

I have found my home from home In Omyim, and the fact that this guest house has a very large number of guests (or friends), who have returned time after time, really speaks volumes!

See you in Sertember guys!

Om Yim lodge is a no frills hotel. It's a 2 minute walk to Chong Nonsi BTS station so it's easy to get around Bangkok. The rooms are pretty small and basic, but have air conditioning and double glazed windows to cut out the noise from the busy main street below. Likewise the bathrooms are quite small and could definitely do with a renovation, but there is hot water. It has free wifi throughout the hotel. If you don't expect anything special, then the hotel would be great. The room that i was in had a lot of ants for some reason, though there wasn't any food there.

The hotel is aimed for those traveling on a budget who want to be close to the Silom area as it's located close to the BTS station, and within a 10-15 minute stroll to Silom.

Be aware that you do have to pay upfront for your entire stay which is a bit odd.
