Owner description: Located in the centre of Bangkok, Siam Niramit is a state-of-the-art 2000-seat theatre, open every day, presenting one of the world's largest stage productions. In the grounds of the theatre are three restaurants, and an authentic traditional Thai village that visitors can stroll through and savour the atmosphere of Thai life in bygone times.

First, you really shouldn't try to get there yourself. I booked through my hotel, who in turn arranged transportation from Siam Niramit themselves, probably would have been cheaper if I'd just done it online. Expect to spend $50-70 per person for transport, show and dinner, depending on when you book.

We arrived at 5:45 and that was too early; the Thai Village is interesting for about 15 minutes. Dinner was like a low-rent buffet....yes, plenty of food but also plenty of people. Food was OK but two of the four of us were sick the next few days with gastro issues; was it the buffet? Maybe, maybe not but were were fine the preceeding 4 days in Bangkok. Drinks are extra and expensive.

You can feed the elephants for 30 baht; those elephants ate a lot of cucumbers. The dancers are in the courtyard at 7PM and after that, the doors open. Mobile phones are OK but they did look in everyone's bag and confiscated a few cameras.

The show was nice. I'm sure there was a story to it, but it is like an opera...no dialogue so you have to imagine what's going on. The sets are impressive and yes, the river just appears out of nowhere. It's really intriguing how they do the river. The dancers are good, the costumes well done.

At the end of the show, it was a mad rush to leave, a little bit of pushing and shoving. If you don't have a driver set up, I really don't know how you'd get out of there. The transportation option is money very well spent.

A/C is high in the restaurant but not terribly cold in the theater. Don't bother with the gift shops....tiny selection and everything there is available cheaper at the street markets or MBK mall.

We loved the experience. I traveled with 6 friends more adn we enjoyed the show, the elephants, the pictures with all the actors. The buffet can be better.

If you try to go there by yourself, you have to take the MRT until Thailand Cultural Center and walk 30-40 minutes to get there. I think that the show has shuttle busses, that wait at the train station, but they look like private transport busses with Siam Niramit advertisement on it. There was no sign that indicated that this was indeed a shuttle bus nor anyone who would be there to tell us.

The show is good overall (not top, as the reviews on Trip Advisor suggest, but not bad neither). You will see nice costumes and performances that will give you an impression of Thai culture.

After the second act, performers called someone from the audience on stage and let him play some instrument. This part of the show was really boring and an absolute waste of everyone’s time. This took endless 10-15 minutes.

Overall, the show was good, but the organization was poor.

This was an interesting show...quite a spectacle...my 8 yo and 11 yo enjoyed it. It lasted around 90 minutes and portrayed Thai history through many styles of dancing and music. If you are in Bangkok for quite a few days I would say this is a good addition to your itinerary. If you only have a short time though, I think there are better things you could do.
