“have a slow life!”
Reviewed 6 March 2012

Excellent place to change your mind! PN is a small eden in bangkok , very quiet (except some nights with a poor door closed outside!) and very friendly. it is like at home.....
Rooms are very well decored, even bathrooms . We were very lucky to come back to Bangkok after a trip around Thailand, and to have another room, as beatififul as the first one...they kept our luggages without pb during 2 weeks.
Meals are very good, but the menu may be not enough changed.
Just a remark on breakfast: we had every morning tea or coffee at the end of the breakfast! In Europe, it is good to start with coffee or tea!

Have a slow life...^_^
First of all sorry for the poor door that make noises every time you close. The door has been well design from the beginning during we renovated the hotel. It's our strong concept to reused all the wood in the hotel, that mean with the limited use of material we try our best to make this door like it has been now. We knowing that luggage are very troubling while you're traveling. That's why we provide a luggage room to keep you belonging with us during you take a trip around Thailand. Your comfort is one of our concern so please feel free to use our luggage room anytime ka. Have a slow life....

The reviews before this one pretty much tell the story of this off beat unique hotel. Genuine artifacts from the 50s and 60s adorn the lobby, and equally unusual artwork appears throughout. Staff is friendly and helpful.

However, the Phra Nakorn is not for everyone. Much of the construction is wood, and the carpentry is less than perfect in places. The lobby/breakfast area is not fully contained by four walls and a ceiling. It's not in the most interesting part of Bangkok, and it's not near either the subway or the BTS. Taxis are cheap in Bangkok, however even with the map, taxi drivers have trouble finding the place. In our experience, some refused to even try.

They seem to cater to families with very young children and do a good job appealing to such families. There are lots of toys and facilities like sandboxes in the lobby area. The little kids we saw seem to enjoy the place immensely.

All in all, if you're looking for a unique hotel experience, and you are unconcerned with some imperfections, and with a lack of some amenities, this place is worth a consideration, especially if you're traveling with young kids.

Thank you for your kind review ka ^_^
Yes, as you said PN is not for everyone... If you aim perfection, full facilities, up to standard like most 5 stars hotel are PN is not for you. ^_^ Living simply, eating healthy, eco - friendly and experience the beauty of this world is what we're trying to bring our guest to reach for. Our goal of running this hotel is not about making a perfect rooms but it's about a perfect experience that will directly due with each guest individually during they stay with us. The experience of eating, we try to serve food according to the seasonal. The experience toward our workshops, sewing class, soap making class, cooking class, and printing class etc.. A special walking tour, bike tour, or one -day trip tour etc... which we think it's more valuable for our guest. That's why PN is unique and not for everyone. Have a slow life^_^

We were lucky to get a room in Phra-Nakorn Norn-Len on a very short notice. We had been there once for a couple of nights about 2 years ago. And amazingly, the staff immediately recognized us and the kids and welcomed us warmly. This place is really unique, a green oasis in the middle of Bangkok. Don't go anywhere else if you are travelling with small children. This place is just perfect for a family. Loads of things to discover, space to run around, a lovely garden, a real playground and a rabbit farm on the roof. And last but not least – staff who love children and other travelling families to talk to! Bangkok is not an ideal place for a family but once you step in here, you relax.
Rooms aren't huge but as a family of 4, we had enough space in the twin room. Furnishing is rather basic. But décor and wall paintings are beautiful. Every room is different. And from the roof, you have a great view on Bangkok.
We also liked the location. It is in a very Thai neighborhood. But you can walk easily to the pier and catch a ferry (and feed the fish, what our kids loved) or walk to the Khao San area.
So, next time in Bangkok, for sure, we will book Phra-Nakorn Norn-Len again. And well in advance, as they seem to be fully booked quite a lot.

Room Tip: Room on the higher floors have better views. A family with 1 or 2 small children fits well into a tw...

Thanks for your kind review ka ^_^ It is so lucky that most of the staff who work within PN love the kids and they enjoy playing with them too. As you said Bangkok is not an ideal place for kids and family that's why we try to keep our space suitable for the kids to stay, learn, and play. We stayed here for two nights. Nice alternative staying here in Old Bangkok versus the modern Sukhumvit area where we previously stayed. Rooms were clean, service was good, but their knowledge of local area attractions and to-do's was limited. Hotel is located a 5 minute walk from the nearest ferry stop on the river and about a 15 minute walk from Kho San Road area. We encourage everyone to explore as at first we felt very isolated because this is mainly a residential area. There is a 7-11 right on the corner and lots of street food vendors nearby. P.S. The hotel's restaurant is excellent. Try the Thai breakfasts (a different one everyday) - you won't be disappointed.

Thanks you for your kind review ^_^ If you are a kind of conservative and like to explore, experience new culture ... choosing to stay in the old area of Bangkok is an good idea. The Rattanakhosin Island is the old area of Bangkok that is still maintain and keep it as a historic part of Bangkok. The Temple, Palace, Canal, Museum, Market and the people are the original. You can feel the real Thais is here. Where about Sukhumvit area is more civilize and modern it's come with the entertainment, comfort, crowded and traffic. So lucky that you have been experience both part. Thank you for your advise we ill train our staff more to search for the new attraction in the area for the guest ka. Hope you can share some of your pictures on our facebook fan page. Have a slow life ^_^

We picked up this address in French "Guide du routard" , and its opinion was excellent .
We were actually surprised as it was better than we expected : excellent welcome , originality of decoration and rooms , good drinks & meals . If by chance we come back in Bangkok , we won't hesitate one second about the place to stay !
