I have stayed at the Malaysia Hotel on 12 occasions over the past 20 years. Some of the staff are still there and always smile and treat you like a friend. The cafe is open 24 hours and good selections and value. The hotel is older but that is part of the charm. Ideally situated to the subway and sky-train to get around. 7/11 store across the road for convenience. I would always stay there if i can get a booking. It is often booked out due to popularity and value.
The air cond. works well and rooms are clean always.

I know this hotel for about 22 years now, and am always welcomed by the staff as I arrive home! Most of the staff are working there since I came there for the first time, so a real and comfortable feeling!
The hotel itself is a bit old but still... no carpets in the room, so even a bit old, very clean, airco's are fonctioning very well, hot water and bathtube!
After a hot day in Bangkok you always can take a dive in the swimmingpool!
The hotel is just a 5 min walk from Lumpini station where you can take the subway to any part of the city!

My wife & I have stayed at this hotel for the past five years. We would not hesitate to recommend it to family & friends. Built in 1967 to accommodate Vietnam soldiers on R&R.. it has been well maintained. The staff are very helpful. The rooms are clean & affordable. The restaurant & massage parlor on site are very nice. Office staff are very helpful. Some people call it gay friendly, we call it people friendly.

Room Tip: We prefer a superior room

This hotel makes no pretense to frills and extras, but it has a wonderful atmosphere, friendly and tolerant, inexpensive, with a loyal following of travellers who come here again and again. Even the air-con works reliably. Three features are worth special note. First, the very convenient massage facility internally accessible from the entrance lobby is very clean and well-run, with expert and attentive staff, and amazingly inexpensive rates, so that frequent relaxing visits won't break the bank. Second, if you bring your own laptop you can sign up for WiFi in your own room, very efficiently provided and at very cheap rates; in addition there's a ground-floor internet room generally for guests, again at low charge rates. And third, the coffee shop also in the lobby may have become notorious at one time but it also provides excellent catering. It's really a full-scale restaurant, again with no frills as regards presentation, but the food is extremely good. From appearances you'd never guess this, but really it's true. The menu covers a wide range, snacks and full meals, most of it available 24 hours day and night, mostly Thai-style but also with international and some vegetarian options, and dishes are freshly prepared from superior ingredients---all this with prompt, charming service and at exceptionally reasonable prices. Unbeatable value, especially if it's raining outside. There's a convenience store right across the street for drink, toilet stuff, all the usual corner-shop provisions, and reliable cash-point machines for drawing out currency via a credit or debit card.

Medium-sized, older hotel, with sixties-looking decor but suitable for a couple of nights.

Not near any shops, food markets or department stores so beware of this.

Taxi ride to entertainment, mainly gay guests but a few other stray, lone hetero-practicing holiday makers too. Lumhini-area near Gay spa.

Near the Ibis hotel which is much more upmarket.

My observation, Most of the custom here rely on older, gay/bi friendly regulars.

Small shallow swim/paddle pool
