Been to a Hilton before? Well, then welcome back.

The Millennium Hilton Bangkok is first and foremost a Hilton hotel, meaning that it offers a predictable and consistent quality and service level. But unfortunately it fails to integrate local touches as some of the nicer hotels in the chain do.

We were upgraded to an Executive Room, which however did not seem to be any bigger than the standard room. They squeezed in two extra armchairs (to please the executive or what?) so that you could hardly move without bumping against some piece of furniture.

The executive lounge (on the top floor) had a good selection of snacks and drinks and during the cocktail hour you can even enjoy your cold beer outside and follow the boats on the river pass by.

Regarding location: it's right by the river which is nice, but it's on the wrong side of the river. In order to get to the parts of town where most of the sights are you need to take the boat. In contrast to what a fellow traveler said in a previous review, the hotel boats are not hop-on, hop-off. They run by a fixed schedule and the one connecting you with the Skytrain station only runs 3 times an hour. So if you plan to be somewhere in time do no rely on a hotel boat waiting to pick you up just as you leave the hotel. For simply crossing the river we often took the regular ferry (ridiculously cheap: 3.5 THB a ride).

The pool looks great on photos but we felt the sunbeds in the water were not very practical (one wrong mover and your towel is soaked). Also it was rather noisy with many kids around. The pool area, by the way, is one of the places in most desperate need for refurbishment. Even if the hotel is pretty new you can tell that the aggressive hot and humid climate is taking its toll.

Breakfast was truly five star all the way. Large selection of European and Asian dishes. If you come early enough (meaning: before the heat kicks in) it's wonderful to enjoy your morning coffee outside right by the river.

Dear Been there already,

Firstly thank you for choosing Millennium Hilton Bangkok.

We are pleased to know that overall you enjoyed your stay with us, and appreciate you detailing the opportunities to continually improve, which we will address. Whilst we maintain a comprehensive preventive maintenance program for all areas, we will review closely the pool area to ensure this remains the signature area which it is known as. On your next visit we hope to have the opportunity to show you this.

We look forward to welcome you back again on your next trip

Thank you for sharing your comments with us.

Kind regards

We had a quick 24 hours in Bangkok, and found this to be perfect. Next to the river, which is great to watch as life goes by and within a short ferry ride to the town. we escaped the madness of the city to dine at Prime their steak restaurant, which was very good (in fact all of the food in this hotel looked very good) Recharged we went back out to enjoy Bangkok's nightlife, great fun when you know you have clean, air conditioned rooms to come back to. Downsides are it is inevitably a little impersonal and service was at times a little slow, but in general a very good hotel.

Stayed here for a few nights after arriving in Bangkok and moving onto the beach. Booked a suite on 28th floor which provided excellent views of the river ad the city beyond. The hotel is located on the opposite side from the Royal Palace and China Town and provides regular shuttle service by boat to River City a small shopping Centre with a few retail outlets and eateries. There is also another service to a pier near the Skytrain station on the opposite side of the river. On the other side of the centre you can hire a Tuk Tuk / taxi for a trip to the Palace. The room entitled us to Exec Lounge access where breakfast could be taken although through choice we went to the main breakfast area. Evening drinks were provided in the longe along with some snacks. We used the rooftop bar area one evening to enjoy the view and air. However, the prices did tend to be on the high side. The pool / beach area can become a little crowded especially in the afternoon. The concept of the sun loungers being located in shallow water was novel. Although there was an area for shoes / flip flops prior to entering the area there was little provision at the sun lounger for other items / newspapers. All in all a good stay although the room pricing structure was on the high side.

The Millennium Hilton is actually deceptively large. Great high ceilings with classy design and artwork.

I have stayed in both an executive room and a standard room. I think all rooms have a great river view due to the building design, which is great. The executive room was a bit small however the bed faces the window looking out at the river and Bangkok skyline, which was actually nicer than expected.

The location is a bit off from Bangkok City and hence there is no activity apart from what is in the hotel, or on the riverfront. They have spent a lot of money developing a nice deck and outdoor restaurant area, with a separate cafe facing the river as well. You can also hop on to the hotel boat or any part cruises that operate on the river which is quite good for an evening unwind.

The breakfast was great as most Hiltons in Asia.

Dear Discostuu

Firstly, thank you for choosing Millennium Hilton Bangkok once again.

We are pleased you enjoyed our FLOW outdoor terrace, which is a great location to watch life on the river both day and evening.

Looking forward to welcome you back in the near future - perhaps next visit you may like to indulge in a Suite room. Please don’t hesitate to let me know if we can assist with this.

We stayed here for a company 3 day conference. The rooms were average but the breakfast was great – lots of choice!

The view of the river was lovely but the location was crap. You have to take the free ferry shuttle to the train station. The rooms was average, i was surprised there was a wi-fi charge. The connection constantly kept dropping and the speed was terrible!

The swimming pool area was pleasant and relaxing, go visit it if you get the chance.

Room Tip: River view, high floor

Dear Urbandivalondon,

Thank you for sharing your experience. We appreciate that location always depends on one’s individual needs.

We are pleased you enjoyed our breakfast range to kick start the day before your conference. For the internet, access is currently complimentary for HHonors Diamond and Gold members, and our Executive floor guests in the lounge, however we do have further complimentary plans for later this year.

If you plan to be back in Bangkok, we hope to welcome you back for relaxation, where we believe our location is ideal.

Kind regards
