I have to admit, the place look prettier in the picture. We never stayed till dark to see Wat Arun across the river. We waited for the sunset across the river but the view was okay. Still it is worth seeing.

After seeing wat pho, We took a boat to cross the river to see Wat Arun. They are very close to each other. The place looked not so tall from a distance but actually it is tall (?m) and pretty steep. If you have a fear of height or have conditions to climb very steep stairs, this is not the place for you. Coming down is even more difficult and scary than going up. But when you get up the 1st level you start seeing the spectacular view. It is even better higher up.

We have been to almost the same temple in Ayathuyya but it was not as steep climb though.

After came down from the top, you can rent local dress for photo with small fee.

Wat Arun is a symbol of Bangkok and entire Thailand, you cannot avoid it. I think the best time to vivit it is the afternoon when the sun is more gentle. Take a boat ferry across the river from Tha Tian pier ( close to Wat Pho temple). It cost only 3 baths. Unfortunately in the area of Wat Arun there are not any place to eat, so plan a lunch somewhere else

Visit Wat Arun during evening hours ( but go there before 5pm, it closes at 5pm). Its a beautiful place, view from top is just amazing. You can see the river, lights.. boats.. best place to take some of those photos which you want to keep forever. Its lit post 6/7pm, looks just beautiful from across the river as well. Dont climb the stairs if you are scared of heights (its steep).. but dont miss it if you are in Bangkok..

Bangkok is not defined for being a city with many things to see, but this is one of them. Out of the hubbub of the monster city, is a "quite" place to visit (as quiet as it can be) and contrast with the high skycrapers and the up and down traffic of the city
