“Tallest but only 3 Stars”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 August 2012

Just came back from Bangkok. Was there 4 days 3 nights with late check-in around 1am in the morning. Booked 4 Deluxe Rooms (Sky Zone) but was offered 2 Presidential Suite instead. Took the offer but end up downgrade my group back to Deluxe Room the second day. The room is not well maintained. The decor & furniture not up to par. And there's only ONE bathroom for 4 of us.

Deluxe Room at 56th & 59th floor, same thing. Old and not well maintained. Lucky the bed & bathroom are clean.

View - Excellent especially at night.
Breakfast - Good selection of foods, but table and floor are not clean.
Shopping - Excellent location to Platinum mall, Pratunam market, etc.
MRT & BTS station - Need to walk for 10 - 15 minutes.
Convenience store at the lobby - Excellent. (Can get SIM cards here)

If you're going for shopping, this hotel is value for money.
If you're on vacation, stay away from this hotel.

We were on a business trip as older people and our enthusiastic host put us in this hotel but didn't check it out first. On arrival it was clear by the entrance that huge coach tours stop here and hundreds of people embark on the journey to the roof view. We checked in and next stop our room on 24th floor. The elevators took forever to come as the hotel was so busy, once arrived there is no air conditioning in it or in the corridors of this hotel. The room was spacious but old and the air conditioning almost non existent requiring two visits to the manager before they sent the engineer who seemingly must have turned it up somewhere and then opened up the vents. We were overlooked from another room as we had corner room. Furniture was shabby and dated along with the bed but the linens were clean as was the mattress. The night we stayed because of the coach parties we were unable to eat at any of the restaurants apart from the ground floor cafe where the food was mainly Japanese or Thai style. Getting to the main restaurants for us required using two elevators with long waits. Breakfast was on top floors and buffet style with strange combinations. Lots of bodies fighting for food and those of us who were actually staying there were ignored in favor of the day trippers. However you would not go hungry if you ate there. I would suggest the lobby cafe if you don't like crowds and want some service. Service for tea and coffee was wanting. I did not find the staff willing or wanting to help. Average age in this hotel about 20. The bathroom was reasonably clean and supplied most things but I found the shower very slippery as they had used shiney new wall tiles to replace whatever was there originally. Out side the hotel is a zoo because of the coaches and tight road but it is an interesting area with Indian and Thai shops and restaurants. It doesn't look clean but I guess indicative of the lifestyle here. There is no station here but plenty of buses tuk tuks and cabs. I am not sure I would rate this as thee star hotel.

Stayed twice for 3 nights and 2 nights within a weeks time in July 2012. Thiugh situated amongst chaos it is quite refereshing when you actually enter the lobby located at 18th floor. Good hospitality with hotel staff ever eager to provide any help. The enterance is bit of let down but overall Bangkok city's view from the top is great.

Comfy due to super big pillows and spacious room. Need to pay for wifi day. Avoid crowded check-in or check- out time or else the waiting is excruciating. US100 needed for room deposit upon check in but will be refunded during check out. Relatively small pool for such a big hotel but pool was not crowded at the time of my visit. 8 mins walk to airport city link station using the short- cut across their bus parking space. The hotel is just in front of pratunam daily night market.

Tried having dinner at their sky coffee cafe. A beef steak for 2 person cost 600baht. Reasonable price but food not up to hotel standard. Fries served was cool. Ordered a medium rare steak but a medium steak was served instead. Impatient server and impolite server- bit that he is rude but being in the 4 star hotel, his service is not pleasant.. Tried their buffet breakfast. Nothing too grand-mayb I went there with a high expectation after reading the reviews of other travelers for this hotel.

Front desk service is slow but excellent if you are not in hurry.

Stayed at 43th floor, bathroom drainage system is not very good. Pool of water under the basin area could not clear till morning :(

Stayed here for 3 nights, room was on level 54. It was a superior suite, with panoramic views of bangkok. Room is old, dusty and not really maintained. Usage of space was horrible and it felt like i stayed in a pigeon hole with less or not evenly furnished room. Not value for money for a long stay but location wise, deadspot on for pratunam market and touristy areas. Worth the trip for one two nights, but other than that, stay for nice views but expect poorly maintained rooms. Room service was excellent and nice food but very bad selections for their breakfast buffet. Sky bar on level 83 is a must visit if you are a guest here. In short, stay for nice views and dont stay for more than 2 nights for comfort!! :-)
