We also stayed here last year when it was Sofitel. Wasnt expecting the big change that hits you when you walk in. Personally, I miss the old lobby. It was welcoming, the scent of the flowers as you walked in, "traditional " Thai uniforms on staff. It felt like you were in Asia. Now it feels like you could be anywhere. It also seems much smaller- none of which matters really. We stayed 3 nights.

Not sure if the reception staff are new. Communication was difficult at times, which I don't recall last year. they were friendly enough, we didn't have much to do with them apart from check in/ out.
We are Accor members, so we stayed on 35th flr. The room was huge, clean & well appointed. Great views of the city- big city.
The pool is not heated, so make sure it is a HOT day before you jump in. It is also a little windy up there. We had lunch by the pool, which was very nice.
Agree with other reviewers about the hard beds, but find that all the places we stayed in in Thailand were hard. Buffet breakfast is good, as are the afternoon teas & cocktail hours.
Short stroll to Patong & sky rail. Taxi to Khao San Road & temples about 72 baht.
We always book online- got 3 nights for price of 2 & cost $100 Aus, so we think it is great value for money. Standard room for Sofitel in Melbourne is $250, slightly less on Wotif.
We would have no problems recommending this hotel.

Room Tip: We didn't think the upgrade was expensive & is well worth taking advantage of

I last visited this hotel about a year and half ago when it was the Sofitel. As others have commented this hotel has been rebranded and undergone a makeover as a result. Sofitel was definately your more classic style 5* where as Pullman aims to be more modern and contemporary - think all white and chrome, with trendy uniforms/clothing for staff etc!

Having stayed in a Club room on both occasions, I couldn't fault anything really. The Club lounge is well located and one of the best I've seen in a long time. Serves a good breakfast and a wide range of snacks and treats for afternoon tea and Happy hour. Club rooms have not undergone a makeover like the ordinary rooms, they've retained there more classic look. One complaint is that the hotel website says that Club rooms offer iPod docking stations etc - not a sight of one in my room at all. Club room was spacious with a good sized bathroom with large walkin shower along side bath etc. Be warned though, the beds are rock hard and have some of the hardest mattresses I've ever slept on - that said never had a problem going to sleep, was always the waking up that was the issue! Wifi in the room was super fast, really impressed by that.

Service from all the staff I came into contact was very good and no issues there. Hotel has a great location where you're walking distance from the nightlife of Silom/Patpong and close to a Skytrain station for getting arond the city. Whilst the pool area is small, never had a problem getting a lounger there.

As with most hotels in Asia, they're catering for an Asian market so the breakfast buffett (In the main restaurant) reflects this. Although plenty of western products available, don't expect decent bacon or sausages!

More than happy recommending this hotel as a place to stay if you want it as a base to explore the city with the odd morning/afternoon by the pool.

Stayed for 2 nights, overall OK. Check in set the standard, almost immediately started with the upselling of promotional package, that slows the check in considerably. I decided not to take the package, attitude of staff changed immediately and not for the better. Everything but the playground bar closed early 10pm. Staff on the whole very friendly though many unable to go beyond hello how are you, then find someone that can help. Room clean and comfortable though noise outside room can be a problem. Large gap under room door that lets light into room from hallway when all lights in room are switched off, this is well reflected throughout room. Playground bar is very pleasant with good selection of well made cocktails and quality whiskies.Breakfast offered good selection with acceptable service, busy both mornings I ate there. The pool bar and 37th floor wine bar and restaraunt both closed prior to 10pm despite their closing times being recorded as 12 midnight and 1 am respectively. Mini bar prices reasonable. All problems were blamed on complications of recent re- branding of hotel and staff attempted to resolve problems, some staff were excellent others far from excellent.

Room Tip: Don't ask for what you want if you don't buy promotion on offer or try to get it before you tell them you don't want promotion on offer

Dear Valued Guest,

Thank you for your feedacks about your recent experience with us.I am most surprised to read your comments as our Scarlett Wine Bar & Restaurant is indeed open until 1:00am from Monday to Saturday (closed on Sunday), and our 25 Degrees, Burgers, Wine & Liquor bar is open 24 hours a day. This is obviously reflecting an inadequate communication to our Guests, which we need to address. Thank you to bring this up to our attention. We would be delighted if you could send us the details of your stay, so that we could effectively look into the issues that you are referring to, in regards to your arrival experience, the lack of sound proof in your room and obviously the lack of communication about the restaurants opening hours. You may contact me directly at h3616-OM@accor.com.

I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Yours Sincerely,

We just returned from a 3 night stay, and had a mixed experience.

This was our 3rd visit to the hotel, the previous times when it was still Sofitel Silom. We deliberately chose to stay here this time round due to a personal and sentimental reason. Otherwise, we would usually stay at Le Meridien which is just down the road.

The lobby, as many reviewers have mentioned, is totally different from the Sofitel one. Gone are the welcoming Thai traditional uniforms and decor, replaced by a very chic boutique hotel feel. In fact, we felt like we were in Le Meridien!

The check in was smooth, and we were given a room on the 14th floor. Unfortunately, the room was a real disappointment as it was very poorly maintained, and not kept very clean (e.g. the stained fridge door, guest room door). But we thought that since we weren't going to spend too much time in the room, we won't kick any fuss. However, we were shocked at the loud noise that came from the bathroom pipes whenever we used the shower, and worse still, when the guest next door used the shower too. We were thus awakened at 2 am and 7 am when the neightbours used the bathroom.

This was very upsetting for us as we were on a short break to recharge, so not being able to sleep was very unpleasant. We insisted on a rom change in the morning, and after trying to palm off a twin-bedded room, the front office staff finally gave us a great room (which had a king-sized bed). We wished that they would have just accommodated our request straightaway, knowing full well that they had rooms available, rather than trying to get us to agree to a twin room.

The experience was thus not good at all (based on the first night), but was very much better after the room change.

I spent 3 very pleasant days at this formerly Sofitel hotel. European standard hotel. I enjoyed their breakfast very much same as the sauna at night after a busy day walking Bangkok.
Had problems the 2nd day with the WIFI but the staff was kind and helpful . While waiting for my tour guide ,who was late to pick me up , they were very friendly calling the tour operator to find out the reason of the delay. Being for the first time in Thailand where the language is a barrier , I highly appreciated this gesture.
Having the sky train station near by was very handy as well because not always taking a cab is an option to move in the busy Bangkok. Good location of this hotel .
