This was our first family trip to Bangkok and I was happy that I chose Holiday Inn, Chidlom. We stayed there for 3 nights. The hotel was a typical Holiday Inn. Very spacious rooms, good bathroom, pleasing staff. This Holiday Inn had more of a business feel to it as there weren't many people at the pool when we went, so we didn't feel like hanging out at the pool either. The staff at the concierge desk were very helpful offering suggestions as to where to eat, where to go for the night markets etc. The location was just great....so close to all the shopping malls. Central, Childlom was just opposite and so was the Amarin Plaza which had fantastic Thai arts and crafts. We looked everywhere for Thai arts and crafts only to find in across the street at the Amarin Plaza and in the same compound as the Holiday Inn, across at the Gaysorn. Incidentally we found a lovely massage place across at the Amarin Plaza too. The skytrain station (BTS) is just outside the hotel which was great to get to the Chatuchak weekend market and a great ride for the kids. It was good value for money and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants a welcome retreat after a hectic day in the heart of the shopping district.More
