During a 3 week trip around Thailand and Cambodia, we stayed here 3 times for a total of 9 nights. The standard single rooms are a good size with comfortable double beds, proper bath, fridge and TV. The housekeeping was faultless - everything was kept spotless with nice big bathtowels provided fresh every day. The rooms are a bit dark, being tiled in dark brown - I felt the urge to throw open the curtains and let in some light. Some of the rooms (10th floor) have very shallow 'designer' washbasins in the bathroom - so if you want to rinse out your smalls, it's can be a problem. Rooms on the other floors have normal wash basins: good views from floors 11 and above.
The only problem with the hotel is the incompetence of the reception staff: it took 4 of them about 20 minutes to complete our checking in process. You have to pay for your room in advance and also leave a 100 baht cash deposit for your room key (refundable when you check out). The reception staff would be more efficient if they had a better understanding of English as this is the language used by most of the guests. Although Europeans were in the minority, visitors from India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan etc all use English as their 'international' language. We found that the girls collectively found it difficult even to communicate that they didn't serve beer before 5pm. Fortunately we had a Thai speaker in our group but even so we had little confidence that our room reservation requests were understood and acted upon.
The breakfast melee needed patience, especially if you wanted eggs as these were in great demand. Seats were often also hard to find at breakfast time, however there was unlimited coffee. The food from room service is fine - we used it a couple of times when arriving at times when local restaurants were closed.
The location is excellent, close to the skytrain and with lots of local roadside restaurants in the soi next to the hotel and also across the main road (use the footbridge). The hotel has some good maps available free in the lobby. The massage place 2 doors from the hotel is good, 200 baht for an hour's foot massage or Thai massage.
